I think I might have screwed up our TTM's

A couple weeks back I posted on here for some advice from the TTM experts so I could help my nephew send some out . Many people gave great tips and I used many of them. I took some of his cards and bought some for him that he didn't have. We sent out 9 and my sister calls me and says a couple came back because the envelope needed more postage cause it was too thick. I took a regular SASE and put a forever stamp, he filled on a 1 page note, and put a card or 2 in card savers and mailed them in a larger envelope. We sent no more than 2 cards, but did put them in card savers I bought. The thing I'm worried about is some of them that make it and actually get signed. If the smaller envelope is too thick, the PO will not deliver it back. I only have a forever stamp on there and am not sure the player will add postage to get it back to me if the forever stamp is not enough.

Will the post office deliver it back and just bill me?
Do you guys put more than 1 forever stamp on the return envelope?

Thanks for any advice again guys!

If you also used your address as the return address on the sase, they will come to you with postage due

Thanks. I had no clue and was afraid the cards might be lost. One the the letters we sent was to Don zimmer, a guy a grew up loving cause he managed my cubs. I taught my nephew a good deal about cubs history and about Zim. I just didn't know if Mr. Zimmer or any of them would have added an extra stamp and might just ended of keeping them.

If you are using a #10 SASE, a forever stamp is enough even if a card or two are in their Card Savers. I cannot see how that is too thick? Are you using bubble mailers?

Agree, puzzled by the "too thick". I think you should be OK for the most part if using regular envelopes and not bubble
    mailer.

I just got Zimmer back last week. It only took 8 days to get it back. Good luck.

I just check and I used a #6 3/4 for the SASE and mailed it along with the cards and note in a #10 envelope. No good?
  • cubfan... there really is no need for a larger envelope sending the cards out. Normally I just fold the return envelope in half twice and put it in the main envelope.

Good luck and I hope you get everything back!

    CUBBIE,

I use TWO #10 (4.125" x 9.5") envelopes ... the one for the return is folded and inserted in the one that I mail. Also included in the envelope that gets mailed is a one page letter and ONE CS1 with either 1, 2 or 3 cards in it. ONE forever stamp on the return envelope and ONE stamp on the envelope I send out is sufficient. GOOD LUCK!

if the folds on the envelope, the 2 cards and the cards saver are all back to bakc, this will cause the sorter to reject the mail and stamp it with insufficeint postage

I don't even fold a return envelope, my return envelope is one of those smaller ones that fit right in the bigger outgoing envelope; on the back corner of the return envleope, I write the initials of the player I sent it to (so I would who it was if illegible; I used to send out blank 3x5's)

  • I would forget the card savers,I have sent hundreds of TTMs never got one back in bad shape and sometimes the player will mess up the card taking it in and out.

Good advice. However I use the 3.5x6 size envelopes. They are perfect for TTM. Fold one once and it fits inside perfectly.

Is it true some players damage them taking them out and putting them back in card savers? I guess I never thought of that. I just can't imagine sending them bare and not getting bent or creased. I also heard some players signing the card saver and not evening taking the card out. That has to piss you off!
