Vern Law autograph - connection to CardsForMS???

I didn't want to hijack / derail Doug's TTM thread, but I noticed something very interesting on one of his 23 responses from yesterday.
On the letter back from Vern Law, he states he signs one autograph for free, then charges for more than one. The contact information he lists refers people to a contact named "Brian Crotts" of Bace. I knew this name looked familiar, and did some checking - it is our old friend CardsForMS. Yep, the one who tried to scam a couple of people here and on Net54, including trying to re-sell a T3 which he had already sold on eBay, along with requests for money and other shenanigans before getting bammed (I believe).
I thought this would be interesting; I wonder what his connection to Vern Law would be??? Any thoughts??

I don't think this is an innocent thing and I have met Mr. Law many times at card shows and TTM and believe him to be a very stand up guy so if anything goes down I would look to the scammer to blame.
Who wants to drop the dime to Mr. Law??
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
It started with the Frank Hayes auto card that was originally deemed authentic by PSA/DNA but later proven to be a reprint. PSA more than compensated him (he was in a total of about $20 counting the purchase of the card). He then went on a rampage posting the results everywhere and eventually wrote a review of Joe's book on Amazon using my CU user ID.
Had a supposed link to a charity for MS in his sigline here and net54 which you could donate money to. It was actually a direct link to his Paypal account. He claimed it wasn't even though the properties of the link clearly showed it was.
He then claimed he had a car wreck and needed $100 for a down payment for a used card. Matt Miller Paypalled him $100. Later that same night, he purchased a card on eBay for $125.
He signed up for the Secret Santa and received a gift but never sent anything. Always claimed it was the weather or his hernia or something. Then claimed in late January that he never received the address of his recipient.
Tried to scam this board at least once by pawning off autos that he knew were fakes. Thankfully everyone here did too.
Sold a significant number of items on net54 but never sent the items.
At one time I had a list of numerous card related websites and auction houses he was banned from. Have a new computer now and didn't save the list.
He bragged about being friends with Bob Feller and showed off boxes of balls that Bob signed for him that were meant for charity. Instead they ended up on eBay.
There is plenty more but I am tired of typing.
<< <i>I think on startiger you can post any address for a celebrity...which means technically I could put my address and a note to add $100 for a celebrity which lives near me...forge the signature and keep the cash/money order...far fetch, but possible...have no clue what the deal is with Law and Crotts. >>
It's more than posting something on startiger. Law is replying to those seeking an autograph to contact Crotts. So Crotts has an established relationship (good, bad or ugly) with Law.
Contest for card from his collection right here. Never sent anything.
Forgot about the Frank Hayes card. He said he would never sell it but tried to sell it on eBay while he was negotiating compensation with PSA.
Don't know why, but he posted a thread under his next ID (osocards) about jsut got through busting 4 packs of 88 Fleer basketball. When asked for scans he said they were already at PSA. Think he lived next door to PSA at the time.
He's now living in San Antonio, TX and is trying to expand his hobby into a career.
<< <i>Brian Crotts can be found on the FCB forum under the name "BrianHarper." I've warned everyone there, but he's still around and still trying to turn a quick buck.

What he tried to pull really chapped my hide. As all of you know, I fundraise for the MS Society so I really took it personally.
Anyway, when someone uses their personal PayPal account for fundraising, that's kind of a red flag, people.
But seriously.. I can only speak about the TX and NY chapters; I do the MS 150 bike ride, ajw runs up 66 floors at Rockefeller. You donate money DIRECTLY to the MS Society, either mail a check or our fundraising page (my page for this year and ajw's fundraising page from last year). As you can see, it's their site, so a penny never, ever, ever touches our bank accounts.
NEVER! EVER!
So long story short: If anyone claims to be fundraising and asks you to deposit funds into their account, STAY AWAY!

<< <i>Very interesting indeed. How can you be sure it's him?

I was first alerted to the possibility when he registered under the name "BrianHarper," an alias that I remembered to be blocked for non-payment on a hobby site. Then, just after "BrianHarper" moved to San Antonio and was peddling some old AP wire photos (if I remember correctly) on FCB, a certain "Wayne Rodriguez" in San Antonio joined Collector's Universe displaying the same photos.
Wayne Rodriguez was quickly discovered to be Brian Crotts...absolutely obvious if you know his posting style, which is as follows:
Day 1 -
"How did I do on this item I picked up on eBay for $XXXX?"
"Do you think my item that I'm never selling is worth a lot of money?"
Day 2 -
"Well, my car broke down, I have a new disease, my dog ran away, and my boyfriend left me. I have to sell my collection to pay for my "insert BS here.""
Anyway, I'm doing this on my own free will. I have not discussed it with Drew and if he gets mad at me; I humbly apologize in advance and only doing this with the best intentions.
It looks like Drew is doing it again this year (FUNDRAISING LINK). Let's give him a little incentive to break 10 minutes by hooking a brother up.
That would be a pretty sweet surprise for a great guy like Drew, don't ya think?
