Cards of one player with a pic of another

Let's see some cards with pictures of different players than the one named on them. I'll start.
1956 Topps Hank Aaron. That's Hank in the portrait, but that's Willie Mays sliding.

Do I look like Eric Byrnes?

2000 Bowman Eric Byrnes. I've always loved this card because it makes me laugh. Some pics are close. Some are not so close. This one might be the winner in as being as far away on the spectrum as you can get. I remember seeing this card before I knew who he was so I was a little confused when I saw him on the field.

I don't have a scan available right now, but I know the 1990 Topps Bill Spiers actually pictures George Canale.

Now that's some trivia that 99.9% of people wouldn't know off the top of their heads.

It's the burden I bear. image I have 2 rack boxes of 1990 Topps waiting to be ripped, so maybe this is a good excuse to do just that.

1995 Topps Traded Carlos Beltran is actually Juan LeBron (and vice versa).

  • I'm going to say 1969 Aurilio Rodriguez. I guess it's actually the bat boy Leo Garcia.

It's lame when they screw up rookie cards of players who end up becoming significant.

Darrel Porter and Jerry Bell appear on the card, but they're each shown with the other's name. Snyder's 1957 card shows Ed Fitzgerald. Note: Not my cards, scans swiped off of eBay.

  • Nice thread.

I also like the cards where there is a 2nd, sometimes even bigger star, in the picture or background.

Just a tidbit on the Jerry Snyder--when Topps made Jerry Snyder part of it's Heritage real ones autographs, they used that card and Jerry Snyder signed every card with "This isn't me"

how about this one featuring MJ wearing number 12. His jersey was reportedly stolen from the locker room before the game and had to wear this extra jersey with no name on the back.

The Ken Hubbs error has to be the biggest F-Up Topps ever did. The guy had been dead for three years!!! Doh!!

1991 Bowman football was truly spectacular in their incompetence at matching photos to players. Example: Chargers RB Gary Anderson's card featured Raiders C Don Mosebar. Different body types, positions, teams, and races. About the only way it could have been worse would be to put someone from another sport on the card.

I have a special fondness for the 1989 Star minor league card of Dave Rohde, which pictures his teammate Karl Rhodes - I got both of them to sign my copy.
