Ebay question

Have any of you ever won an item at a great price because the seller had the wrong year listed in the item description? Have you ever had issues with the seller not following through with the deal after he found out why it went so cheaply? I recently picked up a nice set this way and the seller followed through with the sale but I must admit that I feel a little guilty but also lucky at the same time. Do any of you find great deals like this often because of incorrect item descriptions?

  • I got a first edition edition Daniel Defoe once when ebay crashed at the closing time of the auction. The seller honored the sale cause I got my bid in early, and left probably $1000 on the table. Granted this was at least 10 years ago but this was one time I felt guilty with a win; and by far the best "deal" I've ever had on ebay.

Probably why I still will bid a fair price on many auctions well before they close.

  • heh, thou to be fair I've made the mistake several times and buyers have taken advantage...

those are burned in my memory much more than my occasional "steals" and "deals"

I am always leery about auctions like that and usually don't bid. If I see a title for a card, and then the picture or description don't match, my thought is "If I win this auction, I see a potential headache here getting the item". I have even sent a message to the seller telling them about the mix-up so they can fix the listing or at least clarify it for me.

these days, so many folks are privy to the ways of eBay, that these types of mistakes rarely go unnoticed......i've jumped in a couple times and thought i was gonna get a steal and then got sniped at the last second, but i've won a couple that way too......never had a problem with reluctant sellers, though.

I usually start my searches by misspelling the players name a bit and see what comes up. I found a few bargins. My thought is if the person does not even take the time to double check his spelling that is his fault. The seller has never backed out yet. I have had stuff that I was selling go very cheap and I always sent it out.
