I purchased the two cards below, but have not submitted any for grading. My understanding is the printing plates used were a problem and caused alot of the short print cards and most likely issues like the missing ink on Art Shell. Does PSA grade these with qualifiers if they are missing ink? Also if anyone has graded these before how difficult are high grades. The perforations make it seem like the borders are chopped up, but they actually are pretty nice cards. Any experience with these would be appreciated. Thanks

I have close to 400 cards graded in my collection, and the printing errors due affect the grading. I can't think of any of my 7's or 8's that have the print defects.
Now when it comes to the tabs that is a different story, I have some that look ugly that still grade an 8, others that look sharp and only grade a 7. It is my belief that PSA hasn't really set their policy in stone on the tabs, and it really comes down to the individual grader.
I wouldn't say I'm an expert on these cards, there are a few guys out there that know ALOT more about this set than I do.... but that's my 2 cents.
The "Dirty Dozen" are more the result of their location on the sheets (and susceptibility to printing flaws and damage) than anything else. The assumption is that the two and four card packs were hand collated and manually fed into the sealer and damaged cards were discarded resulting in a shorter supply given there appears to have been an equal print run of sheets based upon the commonality of the other cards from the set and their sheet placements.
PSA does take off for the myriad of flaws that resulted during the production of the issue, and there are many types of flaws with the set: missing colors, ink smears, print blotches, roller marks, crimps gum and wax stains, centering, etc.
The perforations are not quite as detrimental as one might expect. Obviously, it is better to have them all puffy and fresh, but since the cards were attached, they are often found with "torn" or "chunked" out corners. High grades on these cards are tough and typically run PSA 8 at best. Most grades tend to run from PSA 5 - PSA 7, but some PSA 8's and an occasional PSA 9 are not impossible. The grading standard on the issue has changed somewhat over the past few years. In fact, I have quite a few PSA 6's 7's that blow away my PSA 8's and are awaiting my attention to be cracked and resubmitted.

The last time I looked there are 0 PSA 10's on that set. Someone with access to the POP report confirm please.
