you've probably increased the bidder pool on the item.....I've always like the 1976 card design. al.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but BBCE has some available for a probably a little more than this one will sell for. However, you can feel much more comfy about the claim of unopened and unsearched if you get one from BBCE.

Just my opinion of course, but I would not trust the "unopened" claim by the seller of the one on eBay. Inluding pics of some cards that at least appear to have been pulled from the "unopened" box is not a good idea.

To answer your question about condition, I have seen a few people on here bust 76 Topps vending. Felicia busted a case and condition was excellent but centering was all over the place from 50/50 to severely miscut in the same box. I bought a half box of leftovers on the BST board from another forum user and subbed about 30 of them with none grading lower than 8 with a few 10's.

I've seen some really nice cards pulled from '76 vending boxes. That being said, I would take Bill's suggestion and purchase one from BBCE if you are really interested in buying one. eBay is a gamble and looking at the pic of this box and its condition, I would speculate that several cards are damaged. The crushed corner of the box really bothers me. Nothing worse than a vending box that has fairly centered cards, but corner dings on every card because the box was mishandled at some point.

If I am reading the auction right...the box has been opened and cherry picked! Unless you are looking for commons only then I would go with BBCE as suggested earlier.
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

    That's my auction
It was relisted due to non-payment. First time around it sold for $118, which is about what I expected
And I think the auction title shows pretty clearly it's been OPENED
And yes, the description states the big names have been removed ie Brett, Aaron, Eck. So it has indeed been cherry-picked.
To the OP: many stars are still there, like Schmidt, Munson, Morgan, I think a Guidry RC and others, can't remember all of them.
But if you want a shot at a sharp but O/C Brett, Aaron or Eck, I'd definitely pay $700 at BBCE
As far as collation, I didn't count, but it looks like the collation's pretty good. I'm guessing around 60%+ of the set should be there

first of all, Matt is a stand-up guy and a trustworthy seller, as i'm sure many here already know, but why would you buy a vending box, cherry-picked or not, if you just want to do some upgrading? post a thread in the BST with the card numbers you need and i'm sure you'll get some help, however........if you want to experience the joy and anticipation of pulling cards which appear to be Not Of This Earth, then you'll need to buy a box.

My take? I would buy an "unopened" vending box from BBCEx.

Having said that - I'm clueless about that year with respect to what you're gonna get in quality.

My experience is that vending is a big crapshoot - if the run is OC - it could wind up being - almost - totally OC.

The earliest vending I've ever opened was 78T - and it had lots of really nice cards - but also tons of OCs and dinged cards.

If you're feeling extravagant, Mile High has a lot of 4 of them. Vending boxes are always a risk though. Very hit or miss. You could hit a homerun or strike out real bad as others say.

This box is clearly being sold as an opened box, and I think it would be a great pickup for a set collector at around the $100 price range...unopened vending is always hit or miss, even from BBCE, but comparing this auction to an unopened BBCE 76 vending box is comparing apples to oranges..

I bought a 76 vending box from Felicia and got 3 dupes total I believe...

I have also purchased 79 and 80 topps vending before and have had sometimes 15+ dupes per box.
