Fake Ruth Card? Scammer?

Look at these 2 auctions...Same card? Looks like the same scratches on the bottom near the 'H'...

  • It definitely appears to be, and even moreso than just the scratches by the H....

Check out the white dots that appear in Ruth's hair underneath the logo on the cap. They match up perfectly... I count nine independenant white spots that match perfectly.

Also in the red area above the Cap and to the right of the logo, both cards have the same white line.

You can also see the crease that appears to the right and slightly above the ear in both pictures.

Finally, both cards seem to be cut with the same slight tilt and border sizes, not to mention the corner wear is identical...

    I also concur twice!

  • Can you guys explain the major tip offs that indicate it's a fake? Just trying to learn. Thanks in advance.

One and Two are the same card.

Number One was first sold legitimately as a "reprint."

Nothing wrong with Link 1 as dc992 sold 7 of them @ $6.50 each. He has them classified as "reprints" in the items specifics area of his description.

As to Link 2, the seller skies*the*limit10 is trying to sell it as "authentic". What's funny is that skies*the*limit is our ole buddy ... "no shirt guy" aka Robert who pleads a sad story to dupe people out of their hardearned money. He's so poor, but check out his latest eBay purchases!

    What a tool!

  • One red flag you should always be weary of is the mention of it being inherited from "my grandfather"....

    Hi Steven,

You couldn't have said it better! I've never seen an auction yet on eBay involving a dead relative, an ex-husband, or a cheating boyfriend that has ever turned out to be anything but ugly!

  • Thanks for the pointers fellas. Is there anything about hte card itself, just by looking at it, that it a tip off signaling it's a reprint? Thanks again.

As a side note look like all his active listings that said Card does not say reprint in the description are now MIA.
