Does this look like a stolen scan from Bmw's auction? Howe rookie

This sure looks like a photoshopped scan from Bmw_cards 2 auction to me. Opinions please. I have already reported it to e-bay because the card in question sure looks like it is already in a PSA holder and the centering looks way to identical to me. The printer flaws look like they have been photoshopped out.
I would really hate to see somebody get burned for this much money. Thing is i do remember a coolnotes PSA member as well. Not sure if it would be the same person or if somebody may have highjacked his account.

Anyways what are your thoughts ? Look identical to me.
Cheers, Steve

  • No expert here, but look at the pics side by side. Inside the green circles I added seem like dead giveaways to me.

  • No doubt whatsoever. Good eye ezy.

  • If said auction in question runs it's course, I may bid to win. Friggn scammers got %100 pos feedback???
  • I reported it to e-bay and there responce was there is not enough proof !! However if the person who also has the card up for auction complains they may do something about it. So i did e-mail Bmw and i hope he does say something otherwise poof goes somebody's money !!

  • Anybody in Cali want to e-mail and see if pickup is okay ? If they refuse then we definitly know it's a scam. Although i'm 99.9999999 percent sure already.

I've bought from that seller before without any problems. He sells lots of high grade vintage material. I would be surprised if he were running a scam.

  • Compare the auction pics. Substituting a Howe pic of his rookie card for an auction is a scam no matter how you look at it.

The pics are one and the same.

  • Looks as though ebay scammer coolnotes pulled their auction, as the bidding was over $800 last time I looked.

Plus they added some more long winded BS to the description.

it's nice to see ebay is taking the reports a little more seriously, when are auction houses going to start watermarking their images????

Must have had his eBay ID stolen. Would you buy from a guy who posted this answer?

Q: Card looks like it is already in a PSA holder. Can i see a scan with the holder it's in? Thanks, Steve
A: we are stuck far away from where the card is. my wife used several cardboard backgrounds to highlight the card. if you are dissatisfied with the card at all and i think you will not be return it.

Yea..that's weird..coolnotes bought some high grade, expensive cards from me around 2 years ago...always paid....straight up Ebayer....

The two cards are the same card.

The seller ended the listing; EBAY did not poof it.

The account looks like it might have been jacked,
but I cannot tell for sure.

  • Now the auction is back but there is a different scan and he is now claiming he has 2 of these cards...??? I live close enough to El Segundo so I have emailed him to see if i can pick it up in person.

    to be continued...

"...I know their provinence and don't need a third party to authenticate them.... "

    /////////////////////

If he can't spell it, he don't know it.

Provenance, from the French provenir, "to come from", means the origin, or the source, of something, or the history of the ownership or location of an object.

    ..........

Based, in part, on the answers to the questions, there is
    definitely something not right.

He also seems to have some low-end photoshop skills.

    Could be a jacked account.

Or, he could have "borrowed" the first scan to illustrate
a card that he had "in a safe place."

  • I got a response from the guy hosting this auction and he said local pick up is fine... maybe it is legit? There is something a bit shady though... good luck.
