Why "My Kind" should stick to Ebay :+)

They should bar people like me from even WATCHING all that stuff on the Heritage auctions, let alone actually BIDDING on it.

I just totaled up what it would cost if even my MINIMUM bids stood up-a gilt farthing here, a proof half penny there, a
knock down color shilling- "yes, I'll have that crown and, let's see, I need several of those delightful Canada dimes.
Oh.. ummmm.. and put a couple of the half pennies- yes this one, that one and the one over there-in my basket too...."

Scary as hell. So I have to hope all those little green figures turn red-and fast!-or I'm finished!

Now I need to take the danged thing OUT of my bookmarks, wish I'd never seen it, and hunker down until either
the county sheriff or the white coats come to get me.

Incidentally, is there any kind of Heritage Help Group out there? You know, like "My name is John and I'm a hopeless coinaholic" ?

Seeking some kind of relief, last night I put myself back into therapy-sucking my thumb with blankey, dipping a couple of Canada
proof like quarters to try and get the stupid pliofilm residue off, clicking on "Hot buys for under $5" on the Coin Community site
and, finally, doing a search for "toned" under world coins.

Blessed relief! And as temporary as it likely is, I'm at least off the "heading for the screaming edge of coinaphobic hell" watch list for the time being.

$35.

Coin collecting can become a bit of an addiction.
I find it hard not to look at coins for sale and the even harder not to bid or buy coins I like the look of. image

The trick is not to go crazy and try and stick to buying what you can afford. If you need to borrow money you haven't got, to buy coins
you are heading down a slippery slope.

With a bit of luck you will only win one or two coins which you can afford and not the whole lot.

Nice 5 ore and nice pictures by Numismatograph.

Well I've got a couple of bids in on pieces I "need" at Heritage, now trying to decide which of the things I "want" to bid on.

I had a pretty good budget for this sale, right up until NEN started putting new stuff on their site a couple of weeks ago. I think in December I added a couple of German proof minors and the Geo. III 1/2d this week, so all of that has cut in to my bidding budget. And then there were a couple of neat things that came up on ebay...

And just to add, I must really have sucker written on my forhead, Heritage sent me a note I was qualified to bid by phone on the lots I wanted. I don't recall that ever happening before, they have either lowered their standards or I put in stupid money bids.
