White Christmas, anyone?

We are having blizzard like conditions here in the OKC area. 50 mph wind gusts with white outs and looking at possibly having 6-8 inches of snow by this evening on top of freezing rain and sleet. Their saying that I-40 which runs east and west will be closed by this afternoon and some roads have all ready been closed. It looks like we'll be staying home for Christmas. Grandma will have to postpone Christmas until a further date. I've lived here all but four years of my life and I've only seen it this bad or worse once. That's when I lived in NJ for 2 years and we caught the edge of a blizzard and got 2 feet of snow in 16 hours. Everyone have a good Christmas and I hope your weather isn't this bad or worse.

Yeah yeah, I saw that you replied and I figured that you were going to brag about how nice the weather was in Florida. What's wrong is it too hot to get out today?
They're also reporting around 5,000 power outages in this area so I guess I need to got get some more firewood before the store closes.

Acutally yes. I did sweat today while at work. I wasn't very happy about that
A cold front is moving in tonight though. It's going to be in the mid 40's which is great!

Latest update is 35-60 mph winds, temp is 21 degrees with a windchill of -7, 8-12 inches by of snow by 10 pm with 3-4 ft drifts. I-40 Closed about 5 miles west of me due to a 20 car pile up. Traffic backed up atleast 2 miles. Also a 5 mile backup on a highway running through the northern part of OKC. Travel is strongly discouraged. I'm not goin' anywhere the rest of the day. I went to the store earlier and that wind makes the snow/sleet sting pretty good. I'm not goin' anywhere the rest of the day. Should've bought that 4wd pickup.
<< <i>Kansas....a couple hundred miles above you Jay. Started coming down very hard around 8:30-9:00 this morning. Everything is now white and will likely be the next few days. >>
We were getting freezing rain and sleet until around 8:00 am and then the snow began to fall. Visibility is around 100ft due to the blowing snow.
I may have to open some windows to let some air in...it's a tad chilly inside the house right now

At 6:00 pm we have had 14 inches of snow in OKC a new December record and I can't remember ever getting anymore any other time. Many stranded on the highways. We will be staying in for Christmas.
Really dread driving around in this tommorrow. But hoping the wind dies down. Would make for some excellent duck hunting!
