PayPal Question

I win an auction from a low feedback seller (50+), which I pay via PP. Seller sends me an email through eBay saying he hasn't recieved the money. I check and it shows as unclaimed with an unregistered email. Let the Seller know the transaction # and his email address is unregistered. He says that's an old email and thought it was updated in PP. He requests that I send the money to his new email via PP. It's a $60 item, that I really want, and all correspondence has been through eBay.

So long story short, can I cancel the original payment, send payment to the new email with all documentation, and still be covered just in case he's pulling a fast one?

As a side note, I don't mind being out of pocket for two payments as long as I'm absolutely confident the first payment will eventually be refunded.

Mucho gracias.

  • I did that once (wrong email address) and I contacted PP. If I remember correctly they added the email address so that I could collect the payment. Once payment was received I was able to go in and delete the email address. I had to contact PayPal as I couldn't confirm the address as it no longer existed. (I believe they send a confirming email once you add an address). I would suggest that you have seller contact PayPal first to resolve. Failing that, then I would contact PayPal myself and confirm that you can cancel and resend to the new address... just a suggestion

    Thanks Ken.

I canceled my original payment and attempted to manually pay under eBay items; however, PP says I don't have any unpaid items. Refreshed several times but still nothing...

  • If you have confirmation that the transaction was refunded, then you can go into your Paypal account and choose send money. Put in the corrected email address and then make sure you select eBay items.

    You will then see this:

PayPal recommends that you use eBay Checkout to pay for these items

If you prefer to pay on PayPal, click here.

Just use the click here option and make sure you put the item number in the message as well as subject line. Also, mention in the message area that you are sending to corrected email address per his request for item #.... please confirm receipt and when item will ship.

This should protect you... Good Luck
