    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I'm really starting to believe that they need to change the definitions on the grading standards... Thus,

N6: MINIMUM SIZE REQUIREMENT - Due to the continued growth of our business, without commensurate reinvestment in human capital, you may receive this designation if the grader fails to accurately measure your card on his/her first attempt. Time is extremely valuable, therefore it is more cost effective for PSA (a division of Collectors Universe) to issue this designation in place of double checking card measurements or investigating the nature of your item and/or consistencies with the brand issue. In such cases, a voucher will be issued so that you can, in all likelihood, resubmit your item at a later date for accurate grading and encapsulation.

They haven't a clue. I just got the results of my latest submission and there's a ton of MISCUT and Min SIZ rejects in the submission. Most came from sets I've been grading over several years with very few rejects. Now all the sudden a significant percentage are miscut. Of course there's also the infamous 'N1' which came from a 1975 set that was build directly from vending boxes. Also they're getting stingy with 1972's for some reason. With PSA 9's selling for <$10, there's no reason they should be trying to put the squeeze on populations this late in the game. Percentages of PSA 9's they gave are way down from earlier in the year.

I guess if the card doesn't measure perfectly to dimensions, it's now getting an 'N' rejection label. image

    Gemint,

This is all disturbing. I'm not too excited with what's going on in grading at the moment at PSA or SGC for that matter. The N1 is being used frequently for cards popped out of their own holders. I've got 3 Mantles' that were in PSA 8 holders that are unable to get back in the holder. Although my favorite subject is PSA and the crossover service- Does it even exist?

I haven't graded with SGC so I can't comment on them. With PSA it is frustrating that the standards are always changing. I wonder if there's been a surge in people trying to pass altered cards through PSA with the down economy with the result being PSA being overly cautious on what they'll grade. I'd be shocked if people are trying to get bogus 70s commons through though.

and now they've flagged you as a problem submitter image
  • Certain issues they are tough on. I submitted 4 UD century legends and all 4 came back Min size. Submitted 2 of the same 4 again and they end up in holders. If the card is not trimmed and it will fit in a holder because it is not miscut, put the card in a holder already.
