Some Canada grading help and shout out to WWW :)

I just sent this 1956 PL Cent to PCGS with some pretty high hopes.

I decided not to spend the extra $20 for True View but make a couple of shots of it
before I packaged it up.

I made zero adjustments in the pictures by the way.

So what does anyone think? Will it 67 or the will the tiny spots on the obverse knock it out?

MOST of all, will they body bag it because the graders always seem to suffer extreme angst when
they see a really nicely toned coin? image

Any comments appreciated.

Bill particularly since he's been down that road many times.....

  • By the way I didn't even notice the small line off the ribbon on the obverse-wish I had because it may even
    be a brush off.

    Anyway......

What do you mean by brush off?

    Nice capture, BTW!
  • Thanks.

By "brush off" I meant possibly a piece of lint on the surface. Or I
    hope so anyway...

Nice looking coin. Does it have deep mirrors? I have only made one PCGS PL67 QEII cent from this era,
and I believe for an early QEII PL cent to make PL67, the coin needs to have some pretty deep mirrors.
Cameo contrast helps a lot too. Yours just might make PL66RB but it's hard to say for sure.
Here's one of mine in PL66RB just to egg you on. image

  • Thanks Bill. I wouldn't say it has particularly deep mirrors or heavy cameo.

I'm pretty well conditioned to 66RB; color looks similar to yours too. And the
small carbon spot may take it down -you never know.

In any case, I'll take the chance if you want to swap image

  • Incidentally I do have a couple of PL67 reds-a 1954 SF and a 1966.....

You have some very nice PL cents in your set. If it has the mirrors like your other PL67s,
then you might have another one. The spot will be the "X" factor with the graders.
