Spirited bidding on a PSA9 '62T GPerry rookie!

This auction for a Gaylord Perry 1962 Topps rookie card sure blew the SMR of $1,750 out of the water!

Nice card...

SMR has been replaced by three different letters...VCP.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

BTW - Dmitri Young won the Perry. No surprise there. 9's routinely hit $2K, so the price was not a big surprise either.

I saw this card at the National this year. It was for sale by a guy names S Bradshaw who I thought said he was based in San Diego. Nonetheless he had some freaking awesome cards. Does anyone know if he is affiliated with PSA-Set-Guy? Sadly, I could have purchased this card at the National for $2250 after some negotiating off his $2500 asking price. I dont think people realize how hard this card is to find in PSA 8, let alone PSA 9. Very very tough, and one I desperately need for my Post War HOFers set.
  • Holy spitball !

There is another PSA 9 Gaylord Perry for a bin $454 on ebay now ... can there be such a difference in two PSA 9's ?

think what you could do with the extra $2400.00 ...

Horrible scan, and in my opinion, a generous grade considering the left to right centering.

What do you mean? You can clearly see the "Mint 9" on the holder. image
