Is this Ebay auction disclaimer OK or a turnoff? edit - Ebay's NPB process has been updated

getting sick and tired of Non-paying bidders but don't want to scare anyone away either.
I've added this to the bottom of my listings - you guys think this is acceptable?
**Due to the increasing number of non-paying, non-responding bidders lately, if payment is not received within 7 days without any contact, cards will be be re-listed. NPB will be filed and any subsequent payment will be returned to you. If longer than 7 days is needed for any reason, please contact me and I won't have any problems with it. Prompt payment is much appreciated. Thank you
EDIT - Just went to start my latest NPB process and see that they have now updated the process to a more seller-friendly way
You can now start it after 4 days and then the buyer has 4 more days to pay or make arrangements.

It is polite enough, but terrible nonetheless.
Because it contains contradictory concepts, it is essentially a plea
for communication.
On the one had, the buyer must pay promptly BUT, on the other hand,
the buyer can simply ASK for more time and that will be fine.

It is always a mistake to tell the peasants that you are having problems
with other members of their class.
State your payment terms AND expect buyers to abide by them. If
they don't, you know what to do.

EBAY has been invaded by zillions of SCUMMY "buyers."
"Disclaimers" do NOT make SCUM act properly.
Disclaimers make MANY responsible buyers feel uncomfortable.
"If this seller is having problems with buyers, maybe he will have
problems with me, too."
"Why are buyers not paying this seller? Are they finding out his
items are junk after the auction ends? Who cares, I'm outta here."

This is the most radical statement I would EVER make:
"Your Prompt Payment Will Assure The Prompt Shipment Of Your Order."

Sellers who use BINs with Immediate Payment Required NEVER have NPBs.
1) People who take forever to pay don't plan on taking forever to pay. They are just procrastinators. This disclaimer will not stop them from bidding.
2) Non-paying bidders don't care about your policies. They have no respect for you.
3) The only people that will take the time to read your terms and abide by them are people who have respect for you, which is the exact opposite of your audience.
4) Most people who buy on ebay understand that payment is expected within a week.
It would be like putting "no people of color allowed" in a KKK meeting flyer.
I concur.
The main reason I wanted to put that there was to try and cover my ass when I relist the items on day 8. With modern stuff, sometimes waiting too long to get new product listed can end up making the difference between a 50 dollar sale and 20 dollar sale. I've been guilty of sitting on stuff too long before I list it the first time, costing me a lot in sales I'm sure

Just went to start my latest NPB process and see that it has already changed. Filed one last week that was still the old way

That is EXCELLENT!!!
I would have been EVEN more generous to the buyers; 7 + 3.
But, only because "7 days" has become part of the culture.
It will take a while for buyers to get used to it, but they will.
It is about time that EBAY let the sellers win one.

Buyers are already complaining on the EBAY boards.

When auto-pay is established, there will be no such thing as NPB.
TONS of departed sellers will likely return to the venue.

An email has gone out this weekend:
It is now against the rules to make any mention of being a "Top Rated Seller" in a listing.
A popup reminder of this is now in the SYIF.
The guy puts in his auction text that he combines shipping for all auctions won within a week of the first auction.
Granted, I wasn't high bidder on any more of his auctions at the time, but I had bids in on 2 of them and another on my watch list (put there to remind me to see if I already have that card).

We're introducing automation: Unpaid Item Assistant lets eBay open and close cases for sellers automatically. Unpaid Item Assistant will be rolled out to sellers gradually to make sure the new process is working properly. The rollout will begin at the end of September 2009 and we are planning to make it available to all sellers by the holiday season, so you may not see the new automated process until later in the fall. When enabled, the Unpaid Item Assistant allows you to automatically open a case if your buyer doesn't pay after a specified period of time. You can choose to set that time as 4, 16, 24 or 32 days after the listing closes. If four days pass without payment after the case is opened, an unpaid item will be recorded on the buyer's account, the case will be closed and your Final Value Fee will be automatically refunded. At that time, the buyer won't be permitted to leave Feedback for that item.
Will eBay educate buyers that they may only have 4 days to pay instead of 7?

If a seller sets the panel on "auto-close," there will be NO unpaid item strike
issued against the NPB.
ONLY manually closed complaints are currently recording the strikes.
This is NOT a glitch. It is how the thing works.

Despite any contrary lingo in the EBAY missives, NPBs can still leave FB if they
respond properly to the NPB-complaint.
NPBs that fail to respond properly, cannot leave FB. (That is NO change to
the previous scheme.)
