    It doesn't have the tell tale signs of the normal mantle fakes.

    I wouldn't be surprised if it was real.

    the majority of mantles are consistent but I've seen some funky Mantles that are real, c'mon though, the guy was drunk most of the time image Great card, I vote real.

    EDIT: that card is more real than this one! red-zone mantle auto

    I say no good, but what do I know? image

    The reason I say no good is because some of the letters seem to lean to the right. Mantle's letters I always thought were more straight up and down.

    Anyone else see what I am seeing?
    Looking for Carl Willey items.

    It passed PSA/DNA quick opinion so I bought it and will sub it soon. I thought it was legit from the time I saw it, but I always value the boards input. I think Mantle probably tried to sign on the white area per someones request and it makes the letters look a little different then they often do.

    I am no expert by any means but have handled or saved scans of enough Mantles over the past 6 years, it looks good to me. Mantle signed most of the '53 Topps I've seen in the same spot on the card, some might be higher towards his face/middle of the card but overall I have seen 3-4 signed in the same spot as yours. For a while I think I saw more '52s signed than '53s but more '53s have come up for sale in the past 2-3 years. Nice pickup!
