As My Wife was Calling me a Geek Sat Night the National Came up !

Evening,
So anyway as my Beautiful Loving Wife and I were sitting around the Campfire SAT. Afternoon in Moab after our 6 hour ATV ride with our two 12 years olds, imbibing in a couple cold ones, the CARD subject came up!!!! As we supervised out children climbing the 200 foot cliff across the wash from our Camp in our fold out chairs at the fire, the two of them got to the top to roll boulders down to see how much of an avalanch they could make, My Wife mentioned the CARDS!!!
As usual, the E-Bay thing, the Time on the Computer thing, the Time away from Family thing, the Obsession thing, all came up in conversation. And as usual the Money given to her (From the Card Accout) to buy Clothes ect. thing came back in return. Alway works !!!!!!!!!
Anyway it was brought up about the National and for some reason she insisted that after years of hearing that I would like to go, she told me I should!!!!!!

YeeHah.

But I degress, My Wife is a School Teacher and is so AN@L that if you look up the word in the Dic. you will find her picture. (She already has dates for our ATV'ng trips for next summer laid out in a Calendar for next year).
So I need dates...Location, ect.....Now, to get her to enter in her Calendar.

Thanks

Neil

That's the same as me! My wife and I are going because my Dad only lives 1/2 hour north of Baltimore off of I-83, plus she can visit her old college buddies from Towson. In fact, when I was there last month, I even scoped out the Convention Center so I knew where it was. WooHoo!
  • Thanks All,
Have just informed her that will be the dates I will be in Baltimore.
    Thanks
    Neil

    Just curious!

    So where is Baltimore?

I thought you were going to say you scoped our your wife's college buddies... That's what I would have done...

See ya there Neil and Bill. I am thinking we should have a PSA Boards dinner at Lee's restaurant in B'More.

    Which one is Lee's restaurant?
  • scotgrebscotgreb Posts: 809 ✭✭✭
I can see the Baltimore Convention Center from my office window -- about one block away. I'm also looking forward to my first "National".

Lee's restaurant is in Ellicott City (suburban Baltimore) -- about 20 minutes from the convention center.

Any and all are invited to our restaurant during the National. We will run a special that week where the purchase of any entree includes a box of 91 Donruss to rip while you're waiting for your dinner.

In trying to prove that I have no life, I coated the upstairs sportsbar with old wax wrappers so at least you'll have something to look at while you're getting hammered. That and the girls flashing you for free shots. Cheers!

    Neil,

That's hysterical. I can't tell you how many times i've had the same conversation with my wife (who is also a school teacher). Except we have not discussed going to the national next year, but we will discuss it now!! haha... Often times the conversation is the opposite of what you described -- i.e. me yelling at her for spending so much money on clothes, she brings up all my baseball cards, I zip it about the clothes : ) or i explain to her that the cards are assets the maintain their value and could be sold, while clothes depreciate almost 100% after one wear!! Anyway, I live in NY, so glad to hear the national is on the East coast this year!! Hope to see you all there!!
I have twelve Sports Cards videos on youtube w/ over 75,000 views in total!! Vintage cards like 1951 Mantle, 33 Goudey Ruth, T206 Cobb, etc (copy and paste link below):

Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed!!

    - I would encourage all collectors to post a video of their collection - I have found it to be a very rewarding way to share my sports cards!!
  • Does anybody know (or has it even been determined?) where the 2011 National will be? I'm guessing Chicago/Rosemont. Then probably Cleveland. Then probably Chicago/Rosemont. Then, I don't know, maybe Cleveland?

I'm thrilled for a change of venue, finally. I just hope the Orioles are at home so I can see a new ballpark. It's probably too much to dare to dream that my Yankees will be visiting then...

You get the LAA on the 4th and 5th and the CWS on the 6th, 7th, & 8th -- pretty good timing, I'd say.

Regarding that "new" ballpark -- Camden Yards was built in 1992! You must be as old as me image
