complete 1957 Topps set - should I get them graded?

Hi Sports Card Guys,
I recently came into a collection of sports cards - including a complete Topps Baseball set from 1957. So I'm wondering - is it better to just sell it as a set all together? Or just pull out the big guys and get them graded? Can you get a whole set graded? Is it worthwhile to get them graded before selling?
Thanks for any input.
Amy

Amy ... I think most would agree that it all depends upon the condition. If you want our opinion, I would suggest that you take a few of the major stars and some of the other cards which reflect the general condition of the set and include them in this thread for us to look at.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

  • Okay - I've tried to attach a few pictures to this message - the file size is very limited. Let me know what you think.

If you load the scans/pictures on photobucket you can post them full size here and it's free.

    Nice cards so far!

Nice looking cards! What other years do you have?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

    Amy,
Nice looking cards. I would be interested in buying the set if you want to sell. I can't advise you on getting the cards graded unless I could see them in my hand, but if the rest of the set looks like the three examples you have a very nice mid grade collection (PSA 5/6/7).

First, I would get a scanner so you can give a detailed look at the cards. I would then look at alot of completed auctions for PSA 6 and 7's, you might not like what you see. I would defenitley pick out a few stars and the best of the best commons and send them off to PSA. Good Luck.
