What is the "rookie" card of George W. Bush?

Does anyone know what is the first standard sized trading card of George W. Bush? And does anyone happen to have one that they would sell me and ship to me via overnight Express Mail tomorrow? I have to receive the card on Friday or it does me no good. I figure the card will be around $5.00 and the shipping will be around $18.00 image I can pay tonight via paypal.

Thanks,

Mike

Is he going to be in Dallas? I saw him in Katy a few months back on the road, but he wasn't here for any function that I know of. I've been in the same room with him several times and haven't landed an autograph once.

I have a feeling he's going to show up at the Komen (sp?) Race for a Cure in Dallas early Saturday morning at NorthPark Mall. I've been to a few things with him in the past and he's always been a very accomodating signer. I'd like to get a rookie card signed Saturday but I don't have one and don't even know what it is right now. If I don't get one in time, I'll have to buy a couple to keep on hand as he seems to pop up all over now.

I think he may have had something in the desert storm issue might be wrong. but I did have w 1989-1991? Gold border bush rookie cards, they were a picture of him when he was young in the war but I have no no idea where they are in my boxes of commons. I dont think the one Im talking about was in desert storm but it was something that came in the mail when I was a kid. Not sure if this helped

Do you think it was Bush Sr. or Bush Jr. in that set? I've got Bush Sr. already, but haven't seen a Bush, Jr. from that issue but I haven't seen the whole set.

Keebler used to distribute trading card books at the Rangers games in 93 I believe, but I don't know if they had a GW card in them. I've emailed a person on ebay selling the books to find out.

    John,

That first one is a nice one, but I keep thinking surely he had a card of some sort before 2001. Maybe not though. That second card you gave the link for is of his dad, and it's his dad that has that 1990 Topps card as well (would love to get one of those too)

My bad. I meet him when he was the gov of texas here in austin. He signed a ball for me. Nice guy
  • The 1990 Topps Yale card? Big $ and I would love owning one. I reprinted one and sent to his office in the hopes of getting it send. It was returned so I sent it to him care of his library. Did not immediately get it back so I hope it works out.

W has a 1989/92 (?) Rangers card, but I cannot find a picture of it.

I would get the 07 Topps JeterMantleBush signed - that'd be awesome - especially if you could add Jeter later.

The earliest G.W. Bush cards I know of are in the 2001 Topps Enduring Freedom set.

I looked in the Standard Catalog, at the listings for the 1987-1990 Rangers Safety sets, and there are no Bush cards listed.

I agree. That would be cool!

Might be the first W card in some of the sets here:

    http://shop.mlb.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=1452926&cp=1452369

I would call the Rangers in the morning. Somebody will have some of those
    cards in a drawer.

Some were given out when they renamed the owner's suite last summer.
Some were included in the stadium prospectus in the early 90s.

They are "novelty items" and not expensive. He used to sign them by the
THOUSANDS, when he was in the stands and when he was getting ready
    to run for Guv.

The one I am talking about is definitely the "rookie card," because he
said - when he first got them - that he had always wanted to be on a
    card.

    Write the Rangers:

    Texas Rangers
    1000 Ballpark Way #400
    Arlington, TX 76011

    Storm,

That's a great idea to call the Rangers tomorrow. I'll contact their PR department and see what I can find out. Might be more effective if I just pop up in person too, have to see if I can get away from the office. I think I'm remembering some slightly larger then card size, black and white "cards" of him that he would occasionally autograph back then. The Rangers used to be awesome about appearing all over the community signing graphs, and if you didn't have something to sign, they would give you these "cards".

    Thanks,
    Mike

If you know somebody who knows the guys/gals that
have been in PR for a while, those folks should know
    exactly where to find some.

Don't trust the first newbie that does not know what
    you are talking about.

I know some of those cards are in the building.

I used to have connections there when Tom Schieffer was the President of the Rangers. He and his staff would hook me up every year with a lot of goodies, tours, etc. for my old "Navarro Youth Foundation". I would take a large group of underpriviledged children to the Rangers game every year and Schieffer's staff would roll out the red carpet and take us during the game in small shifts on tours of the pressbox, lockerrooms, give us free t-shirts, hats, food vouchers, etc. All I had to do was provide the tickets and transportation. They were great to work with for the community. Then Tom Hicks took over, and they wouldn't help me at all and I had to disband my trips as I couldn't afford to provide everything. I was down on the Rangers for years because of Hicks.
