Max Update - 10/7/09 W/Photo

Wow, another two weeks have passed.
Max is now 10 weeks old, and should be "born" in about a month (he's 36 weeks gestation age).
He is up to 4lbs, 2oz. A looooong way from the 1lb, 8oz he was when he was born.
He is off the breathing machines 100% of the time. Now he just wears the little plastic tube that gives him some supplemental O2.
He still has a feeding tube in place, but started taking a few bottles a day about a week ago. He is real excited about the project, but his performance still leaves something to be deisired. They hope he will catch on shortly, so they can take the feeding tube out for good.
In order to go home, he needs to remain on just supplemental O2, and needs to take all 8 full bottles in a 24 hour period. They say we're about a month out from that happening, and with his chronic lung problems, we will be bringing him home on O2 and monitors for at least a few months. We'll take it. The long days spent between work and the hospital are taking a toll. I've gained about 10 pounds, put over 7,000 miles on my car, and have noticed more and more gray up top than ever before. Guess the wife and I are really earning our parenting stripes with the little guy.
Hope the picture shows up. I can't see photobucket photos here at work. That's my mom (grandma) and him about a week or two ago. Since then, they have removed the "fake skin" patch from his forehead (used to protect his skin from breaking down), as he no longer needs to wear his breathing mask.
Cheers,
Bob

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
It's hard to comprehend he was actually the size of a large burrito when he was born, and is almost a newborn-like baby now. Has really put things into perspective. I'm reading on here almost every day, not much posting, but this board has been a little good therapy for me.
