I used to collect Ripken graded cards a few years ago and the Fleer card was typically selling in the $700 - $800 range in PSA 10. One just sold on ebay for $321. I think some others have been in that range recently. The Donruss card was in the $400 range (I think). One just sold for $199 with one bid. Both of those cards have been dropping in price over the last few years.

I can't imagine the situation that would drive the prices of those cards back up. At least not where the price goes up consistently (not a moment in time pop to come back down later).

Even the topps #21 card has dropped from $700 down to the $450 range. The Topps Traded card has held its value around $1500-$1600.

I think Ripken has a good following of collectors, as evident by the Ripken thread, but there is only so much of a market for his PSA 10 rookies and the population will keep going up.

    Just my thought.

I have been waiting to take advantage of the recession, but some sports cards hold their own even in this economic climate.
I have had my eye on a 1982 Topps Traded Ripken card. I recall in the early 90s that a mint one was bought by a dealer for $175. He was obviously going to flip it, so I knew it was worth much more. Now, in the slab era, is $150 for a PSA 9 a good deal?

  • A 1982 Topps Traded Ripken Rookie in psa 9 has been trading from $95 on the low end to around $150ish but fails to go past that price. A Gai has sold for $80ish in Gai 9 mint holder. I would offer the guy $80 and see what he says? image If that was what you were asking, bit confused on your post...

Thanks, I just wanted to how much to spend on a 1982 TT Ripken in PSA 9. In the 1990s they were going for $175+ raw. It seems I can get a really nice one now than ever before.

$150.00 is very realistic as to what you will spend on the 82 TT Ripken in PSA 9.
