<< <i>Have you seen the opposite end of the spectrum where a $250 card sells for $100 via the "auction" format??? I personally have! >>
makes no sense. If it goes for $100 then it's a $100 card. I can't stand all the ridiculously priced buy it now's from sellers who have their stuff way overpriced. It clutters the searches. I wish ebay would do away with the BIN format altogether. The entire premise behind ebay is that it allows people/stores to sell their stuff at auction. If I wanted to buy something or sell something for a set price then I'd go to a store.

This is incorrect. If it sells for $100 at auction the only thing you can say for sure is that the 2nd highest bidder was only willing to pay $97.50. You still have no idea what the first bidder was willing to pay. If this first bidder was willing to pay $300, then this would have been a '$300 card' if you'd used a $300 BIN.
Auctions are just about always a failure for sellers if there is more than one bidder, because it's very unlikely that the highest bidder will end up paying close to his maximum for the card. This is less true for items that have a clearly defined market value, but for lightly traded items it's almost a given. This is why a high BIN, or auction with a high starting bid, is almost always the best way to sell something if you have a commodity that doesn't come up for sale very often.ney

Sounds about right especially with the yankees going to the playoffs.

winner probably could have gotten the card for a lot less if he had sniped his bid. the under bidder ran his bid up with multiple bids
Think I paid less than 10 bucks for a psa 9?

but, if anyone feels left out, i'll put my set up for sale - I'm sure there are a few 10's in there.
congrats !
Yup. A 9 sounds like a much better expenditure of money to me.
