  I met Howe at a card signing in Richmond almost 20 years ago. I got his autograph for a friend who paid the autograph price, and when I told him it was for a friend but that it was a pleasure to meet him, he took the autograph ticket from my hand and signed it too.
  He said, "That one is for you. Nice to meet you too."
