Fedex or USPS Cheaper?

Ok... I have been wondering about getting a fedex account to save on some shipping fees for subs back from PSA.. has anyone used this, if so, is the difference in price?
I have read other threads in which they state if lost in FedEx you are SOL, since they do not insure sportscards...
Any help would be great

fedex.com
seems to note that they insure anything that
complies with the terms of the "added services"
section.
.................
fedex to Canada sometimes requires the payment of
"surcharges" by the recipient. If the recipient refuses
to pay, the sender's account will be billed.
Canadian EBAYers don't want to pay such charges -
can't blame them for that - and may NEG their sellers
if the issue comes into play.
.................
USPS Priority, Insured, w/SigCon or DC works just fine for
PSA shipments.
..........
fedex is good for documents that need to go fast. I have never
use it for much else. (Though if you have a REALLY large item
that needs to be specially packed, fedex might be a good option.)
Recieving across the border is a nightmare for Canadians as storms post states.
But shipping within the US with them is probably fine. I just wanted to complain about them.

I think by law FedEx must kick all packages across the border!
