OT- Error message with PM'S -Request Help...

Sorry to post to this group but I tried the Q&A forum and it doesn't even show up as a thread. Anyway for some reason it seems I can no longer reply to Private Messages or send a private message. When I try I get this error message:

The file editjs.cfm did not load properly. Make sure the the inc attribute is specified correctly
Current Value: inc=include/editor/

I checked and double checked that my private messages are turned on, in fact I received 2 that I was trying to reply to which is how I figured out I had a problem.

Again apologies for posting in this forum... and just so a "newbie" knows...where should I post this type of question in the future? Any and all help is appreciated.

did you try it with a different browser? empty your cache?

I only have IE8 on my computer both at home and the office, so I can't try a different browser. Did try it both at home and work... will try emptying my cache now (though I have it emptied every Sunday night, worth a try).

Hi Ken,

1st of all, no problem with you asking here. Try clearing your cache/cookies like Griffins suggested. Then log back in to this forum.

You might want to check this:

- Your browser security settings are set to disable the use of safe for scripting ActiveX controls. You can check this under Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom Level>ActiveX Controls and plug-ins.

Firefox is a FREE browser, so it's worth giving it a shot.

I've recieved that same error message many times, it usually happens when I'm just clicking on a thread. Just a couple days ago it popped up when I was cheching my PMs.

I'm no help here at all, but the internet settings are probably the best place to start checking as PoppaJ pointed out.

Edit to add that I always just click back and try again. Sometimes I have to retry twice.

Thanks for all of the help. I tweaked my internet settings and that didn't work. Looking at the error message again I noticed the part about include/editor...so I just tried changing my preference to use WYSIWYG editor yes to no under profile and that seems to do the trick.

Not sure why but I was able to send PoppaJ a private test message so at least it's working. Now I'll have to look into why it no longer liked word as my WYSIWYG editor...

I'm having issues at home where I can't reply at all I just get a red X.... will try downloading firefox there and see if that works for me. I can't do it at work as I'm pretty sure they will take me out back and shoot me for messing with unauthorized programs

As an IT admin, I'm glad that your company has a nice no-nonsence policy regarding unauthorized instillations.
