SGC to PSA Experiences and Advice please

Again I dip into the vast wealth of knowledge everyone here has. I have a vintage football 57 Starr graded SGC 88 (8). I wanted to know about sending to PSA for a crossover. I do not want to crack it out and throw the dice. What experiences has everyone had with sending cards in for the crossover. Thanks as always.

  • I successfully crossed two '73 Topps (Thurman Munson & Gene Michael) SGC 9's to PSA 9's a while back, but a recent attempt to cross a '75 Twinkies Ryan SGC 9 was unsuccessful; after cracking it out and resubmitting it, it came back as a PSA 8. From what I've heard, they've been stricter with crossovers more recently than in the past, although if you're going to attempt to cross anything, SGC would likely be your best bet. If you feel confident that your card is a strong 8, I wouldn't hesitate to crack it out; you never know, you might even get an 8.5 or 9, which you certainly won't get if submitting it as a crossover.

Never a problem with SGC crossovers. I would send it in the holder first.
