Epson v300 Help?

Ok, I bought a new scanner a few months ago, and I'm finally finding some time to scan my new cards. I got an Epson v300, but I'm having some trouble. I can't get it to scan anywhere near the entire glass, and the scans are coming out a little drab.

Is there anyone out there with a v300 that can help?

I have an Epson V500, but maybe I can help. What mode are you using when you scan? Also, do you use preview before you scan? That way you can see what zone it's scanning. I've used many types of scanners over the last 15 years. You can PM if you would like any help.

Brian, after playing around a bit, I think the key option is to tell it I'm scanning a document as opposed to a photograph. For whatever reason, that gives me much better colors and a larger scan area. I'm not asking why...I'm just going to accept it!
