Registry is a powerful drug....
I just upgraded a bunch of my 1954 Topps baseball set.
One thing I noticed was that I am replacing some of my PSA-6 cards,
with PSA-7 cards that don't have as much eye appeal as the 6's.
Some are off center, or not as good focus, and it kills me to replace them
with cards I don't think are as nice. However, some of my 6's must have
a slight touch on a corner, or some edge chipping to warrant that grade.
Anyone else feel duped about the 3rd party grading, as we pay large sums
to get higher on the registry, and make our sets more consistant?
It's just a number, but getting my set to all 7's makes me feel good :-)
Even though some of my 6's are really nice.

So no I don't feel duped because I know going in that some 6's will be nicer then some 7's.
If I was to upgrade from 6 to 7 it would have to be because the 7 was nicer then the 6.

While anything less than sharp, sharp corners will bring a PSA 3 or a 4 in a T205 today, there are many round corner and faded colored cards that were PSA 3s and 4s.
as more cards are submitted the lesser grades it seems to get.
someone on here once said - buy the card, not the grade.
I agree
<< <i>For some reason, I've always had a distaste for PSA 7. It almost seems like an "in-between" grade. I'd hold on to a PSA 6 unless and until I could upgrade to a PSA 8.

I'm with you, Jack. It seems that, in general, 6's have better centering which makes for better eye appeal. 7's always leave a bad taste in my mouth, as if I've made an unwanted compromise.
<< <i>why upgrade at all. stop playing the game and just ENJOY the cards you have. >>
that is the way i feel about my low grade t205's i might want to upgrade but i love the cards i have.
looking for low grade t205's psa 1-2
