Graded Card Plastic Bags - Help Please

Hi Folks,

I was just hoping that you could share your wisdom regarding the bags that you use to protect your individually graded cards. Can you please provide a link to where you purchase them? Do you use bags with a flap and just tape the flap over? Which bags are best?

I was just hoping for some advice on how the experts protect their slabs.

Thanks!

I've been very happy with the Ultra-Pro Graded Card Sleeves (Stock # 81307). At my local shop they are $2.95 for a pack of 100.

I'm not a big fan of "graded card" bags made by either Ultra Pro or BCW. The bag isn't form fitting and the slab slides around inside. What I do is take a standard "team set" bag and use that instead. It is form fitting to the PSA slab, the only thing is that it's not tall enough to close the bag around the slab, so what gets left exposed is the label portion of the slab. Not really a big deal since the entire back and most of the front is still protected. I suppose you could use two team set bags, slide one over the bottom and then another over the top for complete protection.
  • BCW Graded Card Sleeves is comparable to Ultra Pro.
They're resealable with a 1 inch lip and fit PSA, SGC, and BGS regular-size card slabs.
Also, they're acid-free, no pvc. Price is similar to UP.

I fold the sticky flap all the way against the slab on the long side and it stays tight. Yes it does have a little play on the short side, but the long side is tight.

Yes, imo the ultra pro bags are by far the best, my card local card shop seems to be a bit pricier than the above posters though! image They have a self adhesive strip along the back so no tape required (unlike say a comic bag). I also use ultra pro (psa and bgs) clam shells, they are basically a shell that fits around the slab made of top loader material. To be honest I actually use a clam shell and a graded card bag for my psa 10's.

Yeah, the bags are made to fit basically every slap (wider sgc and thicker bgs) so the psa cards fit small in the bags. Try the clam shells out as they are a tight fit and when you do use a graded bag over them they also are a perfect tight fit.

A few graded cards that I bought from over seas sellers came in graded card bags that fit tight on PSA slabs. I would love to find some of those.

I have been very happy with the Utra Pro graded card sleeves. My local shop carries them for about $4 or $5 for 100. Several of the advertisers on this board sell them a bit cheaper.

I would like to see what the "clam" shell looks like.

I do have to say I get upset sometime when I buy graded cards on eBay and they don't come in a sleeve. They tend to have scratched cases. I just bought two cards for $75 & $90 respectively on the bay and both came quickly but neither had a sleeve. Of course one was pretty scratched up and the other had several minor scratches. The worst part was they were both BGS/BGV cases and Beckett sends you back your graded card list already in an individual sleeve! Okay off my rant now.

A forum user named Alanallen had them at one time. Like Allen mentions they fit perfectly.

    He sold out though.

    Good for you.
  • Just like everyone else , I find the Ultra pro sleeves to be the best for my cards. My local shop sells ultra pro for $1.94 with tax included 100 count ...it seems he might be cheaper than the rest. Probably not so on his vg/vgex inventory that never has sold in five years or so though lol. He is cheap on modern packs, or so I hear. Supplies... he is the cheapest around and I mean dirt cheap on ultra pro stuff . I am thinking that most of his sells come from supplies, modern packs, and yugioh packs that he has people lined up to the doors fighting to buy a pack. I hear that he is 20-30% cheaper than the local wal-mart down the block.

Question - Have you ever seen a card sleeve for tall boys?

not the greatest picture... same thing for psa (different size specifically for psa), the psa clam shells fit into the graded bags, bgs do not...

  • Another alternative is custom-sized ziplock bags found at most craft stores.

I like to pack my slab in a clamshell, then I put it in a clamshell clamshell, so the clamshell doesn't get scratched

Does anyone use the blue or red hard plastic boxes that PSA sells at shows? I bought a bunch of them and use them, you but a sticker on the side that says what's inside and they are separated just enough so they do not get scratched.
