I had a first tonight. EBay style

I won an auction on Sunday. The dude sent an e-mail requesting payment on Monday morning. I hadn't paid yet because I was expecting some funds to hit PayPal today or tomorrow and I wanted to use that.

I get a call today at work and somebody says "hello, this is so-and-so from EBay". I say "yes.........", he says "I'm calling about your auction for X" and I'm racking my brain why EBay would be calling me about a specific auction and I say "yes, what about it" He says "I sent an e-mail and wanted to make sure everything was OK and if you have issues about why you haven't paid yet". It was very nice and cordial, but threw me off to say the least. He hasn't sold much and mentioned that he was unsure about calling customers. I said, in this case, it was fine, but I have to say I hung up the phone and kind of looked at the receiver for a moment and said "hmm, that was weird".

Well, was that weird? That was a first for me.

look looser, I cleerly statted in my auctin that I wanted payment bfeore 12 hours. If u couldn't handel my terms, then you shuld'nt have bidded. Ill be blocking u and teling both of my frends that they block u to.

edit: ISTHTY, Kurt. You really have to wonder what goes through a guy's mind that justifies making a phone call like that.
  • Sounds like he needs those funds ASAP. Interesting, I'm not sure what I'd do in that case.

    Good morning

  • I think you won an auction by TecknoBailey aka Onlythe10s. He used to require 24 hour payment but never paid that fast himself.

It'll be funny when he realizes that Paypal will be holding his $$ for 21 days!

I always repeat this but sellers really need to understand they are not selling in a mall, store or flea market. They can't expect immediate payment as the buyer will not get the goods immediately. Therefore a standard 5 to 7 day grace period has always been the norm for me before I get worked up.

BTW. Has anyone had someone not send a card but go through paypal checkout just to have a tracking number issued? I am in a fight with a guy who is just stalling but Paypal keeps telling me that even though its been 14 days since the tracking number was issued I might still get the package. The number shows up as invalid as it has not been scanned into USPS yet (IE it was issued but the guy never actually dropped off the package).

Sometimes when I drop off packages (I do Click-N-Ship), the postal employees are not always diligent with scanning it into the system. So even though I shipped an item, the tracking number will state NO RECORD OF NUMBER or something to that effect.......So if you have a number, I wouldn't think he didn't give it to the post office. After a certain length of time, they can run a trace on the package....

I've had to make one ebay call - years ago. Before I new better i bought a card for $300 from a guy with 1 feedback. There was no paypal, and payment was made via money order. Never got the card, so after a few weeks I followed up with him via email and he said it was insured (which I paid for) so he would submit the claim. A few weeks and a few unanswered emails later, I figured out his phone number (which was his parents - must have been in college) and talked to his mom. Told her I bought something from her son for $300 and he never sent it, and to tell him I expected my money back. I got payment within a week image
The moral? Don't be a schmuck on ebay when you live with your mom.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
  • Do it the new eBay style. Wait until he files a NPB after the 7th day. Then pay 2 days later.

WOW, and i thought I was being nasty when I followed up with a seller this morning on a card I won on August 27th that I haven't received yet. I paid the same day and haven't heard anything from the ebayer....maybe I should have sent him a message the next day asking "Where's the card??"
