Anyone here that sells on ebay ship in a PWE??

I was thinking of doing a bunch of cheaper cards on ebay...like refractors, inserts, etc....what is fair shipping to charge if you use a toploader in a plain white envelope?

<< <i>those are nice...Ive seen em...but what is the shipping cost on those? oversized envelope? thick envelope? I think those will take more than a stamp. >>
Sure they will take more than one stamp ... but why not charge a flat rate for up to 5 or so cards? As Bill stated, using a PWE could cause a neg pretty quickly.

How much does it cost to send a single card in these?
<< <i>I was going to state that items would be mailed in a PWE. Who wants to pay 2-3.00 for one card in a bubble envelope when the card is only worth a couple of bucks to begin with? >>
THAT'S why it is difficult to make money selling $1 and $2 cards individually on eBay.
You may be better off offering them up here for a buck ... make it a 5 card minimum ... and mail for $2.50 in a decent envelope.

Many might see the PWE as Free cards coming !

<< <i>If I got anything in a PWE and shipping was more than a buck I'm giving that seller a 1 DSR for shipping charges >>
non power sellers dont care about that...who really looks? I think they look at just the FB anyway.
Unless the buyer agrees I don't think it is worth the aggravation.

You are right, Steve
I was only thinking of doing this. I have received so many cards in a PWE and thought it would be a great way to move some 1-5 dollar cards. It appears not to be such a good idea.
<< <i>For cheap (less than $5 cards) I sometimes auction them starting at 99 cents with stated shipping at cost, or 44 cents. I state in the listing that cards will be shipped in a PWE in a card saver or top loader. I send using metered postage through stamps.com and have never lost a card or had a complaint. >>
I wouldn't have a problem if it was stated in the Auction / Buy it Now.
I cringe when I go to the mailbox and get a card in a PWE. The envelopes are generally tore up, then you get this from me.
"Charged $3.00 for PWE". Seller: shb ( 4150) Mar-07-09 08:49

"what part of s/h dont you understand? never contacted me,would have given refund"

"I understand S/H. Contact you about what poor Shipping Practices, I don't want $"
I've left very few Neg's but they all relate to PWE's.
I ship in Bubblemailers for my protection and the cards, adding bubblewrap to get it thicker so it is ran special thru the postal system. I figure if you bid on something of mine you must want it so my job is to get it to you safely.
Granted most of what I sell is graded but if it's a low dollar card I cut my shipping costs to $2.00, which just about covers my expense.
Actually I received a card this week in a PWE, haven't looked at it yet, and am going to ask for the shipping difference if the cards O.K.

But again, it appears to be more hassle than what it is worth.
His shipping charge was a buck and the cards were EX at best. I won a few and he shipped them in a PWE.
He even combined the shipping (I think it was .25 for any extra win.) The cards came wrapped in paper and made it to me ok.
In that case I did not have a problem with it. The value of the cards was under 15.00, they arrived intact and his shipping reflected it.
Had he charged me 5.00 to ship the same cards I'd prolly eat it but be a tad annoyed. (I'd kick him in his nutz type annoyed)

<< <i>Those are good points John...but a seller is a fool to ship PWE when charging 3.00 for shipping. I was thinking shipping charge of 1.00, using a semirigid, and of course putting it in big letters that it would be shipped in a PWE unless multiple cards were purchased.
But again, it appears to be more hassle than what it is worth. >>
I wouldn't have a problem as long as you tell people prior to going to the mailbox, I even think you can print the postage online and get the Delivery Confirmation for what 18 cents or around that but don't know that for sure. I'll have to try it in a couple weeks when I start selling again.
Thanks,
-John

DC is not available on PWEs.
Item needs to be 3/4" thick.
<< <i>PWE's tell me you only care about the $ I sent you, so your feedback will reflect. >>
At this point, I have decided against it but I have to laugh at this comment....ebay, what is about other than the money? LOL No one is there being thrilled that they added to your collection.
from the postoffice, as I had a return address label on the card. I never got them all back.
I've had cards sent in CardSavers in PWE. I consider myself very lucky they arrived undamaged.
Forget the cheapness and use a bubble envelope. If you are careful opening them, they might be reusuable.
For selling low dollar cards, try sportslots. I have made a half dozen sales in the last 2 weeks and I really dont have many cards listed. Plus you dont have to deal with ebay's goofy nonsense or paypal SNADs
I don't dabble in that end of the pool, but it would seem to me that a card that is expected to sell for $3.00 with $2.00 s/h fees would still sell for $3.00 with $0.44 s/h fees. Since it costs more than $0.44 to send a PWE (toploader and envelope) and less than $2.00 to send a bubble mailer with Delivery Confirmation, I just don't understand the mentality of risking damage to the card, loss in the mail and potentially negative feedback and/or an Item Not Received complaint when the bottom line profit margin is also reduced.
Maybe it's just me . . .
Who is trying to short the buyer? Read the thread...its asks how much to charge...meaning, NOT 2 or 3 dollars for a PWE
multiple cards generally get the bubble mailer too.

edited to add: Of course with a card valued at $1, it's sort of hard to do this I guess, which is why I usually stick to a $5 (at the very least) and up rule when listing cards on ebay.

that's what I do too. Every auction starts with a 4.99 price. Even if I have to make up some lots to reach that value
Those who charge 2-3.00 and send in a PWE are ripoffs. I get pissed about that too. But, I dont mind if I know I am taking a risk on a 1-5.00 card if I know ahead of time.
But I see many still do not want to see that and want to leave negs. You cant expect someone to charge 1.00 shipping because the bubble envelope will have a starting shipping price of at least 1.30.

A seller actually SHOULD be thrilled that they added to the buyer's collection. This is the major component of customer service, thinking "I'm glad you like you're item purchased, and I'll do what I can to keep your business." The problem today is that customer service has severely declined in the last decade or so. I guess people don't realize that the former contributes positively to the latter. Profits are obviously the ultimate goal, but how many times did you go to a restaurant and been treated like you were a bother to the person giving you your meal? I personally will not give my business to jerks, or people who employ jerks.

You are right, customer service has been in the dumps...its not just declining, its already there. In the state of the economy, people are looking to make money. Of course all sellers hope for repeat business but for MONEY, not because they are happy they have added to anyone's collection. Thats just a cold fact.
