I have an 1836 Half Dollar with lettered edge. It appears cleaned with AU58 details. How valuable is this?

    The answer to this question can't be ascertained with the information given.

    It can depend upon die marriage, overall look, and how much someone is willing to pay for it.

    Usually someone knowledgeable would need to see it in hand to give you a price for it.

    An image of the Obverse and Reverse would help.

    If it is a common variety, it's probably worth $60 - $120,
    depending on how it looks and how "cleaned" it is.
    There are 23 varieties in 1836 with only one real rare one.
    There are a few scarce varieties that might command a little
    bit of a premium over the commons.

    If you can, please post pictures - then someone here can be of
    more assistance.

    There's nice detail to the coin, obviously. Looks like it's been dipped, but that's a tough call sometimes with photos. There does seem to be some luster left. Don't have my reference books handy to check variety. Certainly not an unattractive coin, by any means. I'll let someone with the greysheet give you a better sense for worth.

    Looks like a nice O-102. This variety is an R3 - "scarce" - with 201 to 500 believed to be in existence.
    Good detail, but the amount of luster and degree of cleaning is hard to tell from the photo.
    Should be worth more than $100, maybe even $200+ if it isn't too "bright". It looks like about an
    AU-55, which would bring $400 - $500 in a PCGS holder.
