White cloudy look around SGC holders....anyone familiar?

I am in the market for a 1951 Bowman Mantle and see two on EBAY graded by SGC. both holders show areas of white, cloudy appearance in a handful of spots around the border of the SGC slab. Is this more mommon w/ SGC?
Currently collecting all sports HOF Rookie Cards graded by PSA...for my sons Jayce & Luke.

    Yes, a few spots around the slab are frosty looking, this is where the slabs are sonic welded together.

    do you have a picture of this? It's not too uncommon on SGC slabs.

    I dont like the looks of it.. I wouldnt buy it...I hate to see frosting on any holder, but an sgc makes me even more suspicious. I heard there easier to crack than psa

    The problem with SGC is you can get a sub back from them and it will come with a bit of frost on the side.

    Although, I've never seen one with that degree of frost. I would stay away.

    Looks typical to me. Email Brian and ask him about the cert #.

    Card like that (I have not looked at the auction) should only be bought from a well respected dealer.

    The money you may save buying from some jamoke isn't worth the stress.

    Interesting response i got from the seller that all of his SGC slabs scan that way, but the circular cloudy spots around the border are NOT on the slabs in person. I guess it could be something that happens from the scanning process?

    I looked at the SGC site to track the cert# and found no link to look up certs...does anyone know if they have one on the SGC site?

    The cloudy spots are visible, they are just much more noticeable when scanned against a dark backround. To check the cert #, email Brian (at SGC) he can most likely help you out.

    Craigger..I think that is normal...I am looking at an Eddie Mathews I submitted to SGC....I can assure you that I submitted it raw.....it got a grade of 4....look at my current auctions and notice the same whitening....

    thanks Bobby - i have gotten a lot of messages about the scan looking perfectly normal. I also heard from Brian @ SGC and he agreed there was nothing wrong withthe scan. I am waiting to hear from him this morning about the cert#.
