Greek Pension

I am not too sure if this medal had a particular function, but punch marks over the king's head lead me to believe that it might have been a receipt for pension funds. The reverse suggests a naval pension, though I think it is more reminiscent of those large bronzes of the Roman Republic.

It is indeed from the Naval Pension Fund. Which you had already figured it out. I don't know where you find these items man, but it is one cool token. image

Having a hard time seeing the punch marks... are they just indentions? Are they like privy or coutnerstamps? What are their purpose?

There appear to be three punch marks. Two of them are just marks, but the the third may have some design in it which I cannot make out.
I have no idea what was the purpose. Maybe they marked receipt of money. Maybe they were just idle punches.
