Does this have a shot at a PSA 9 or 10? Please help (all suggestions)

I'm going to try and sell this card.
What do you guys think it would go for now (SGC holder) vs. if I crossed it to PSA?
What's most likely it would get at PSA?
A 10 would be amazing but I think it's a fairly sure 9.
What do you guys think?
And no, I'm not going to crack it out...

you'll NEVER get a 10 if you don't crack it out. But cracking it would be insane. I would send it in for an even cross.

The slight tilt (both front and back) would likely keep it from a 10, but a 9 seems realistic. What do I think it would grade? Submit it often enough and it will get a 9 eventually.

    It's a very nice card.

That is a very nice card
I think PSA might make it a 9
  • if somebody would post scans that would be great (i'm not sure how to do it)
do you think if i sent it in to psa 5 or 6 times (as a crossover) it would have a shot at a 10?
    thanks
  • Is anyone else noticing the frosting on that case? Not saying its tampered but I would definitely get that replaced to ensure optimum resale value if you don't cross it over.
  • PSA 8 due to bottom left corner
    & white showing on edges
If white is from scan not on card 8.5
    IMO

Thats a great card, Honestly...I would never risk cracking that card and it coming back less than 8.

    I'd leave that card alone.

If I needed it in a PSA slab I'd use the crossover service.

My guess is the seller you bought it from, Andy Tuttle, has already tried to cross it or he saw something that made him think it wouldn't cross.

He bought that exact card from Memory Lane on 8/9 for $100 less than he sold it to you, and he's a big submitter to PSA.

That doesn't mean it would never cross, but I've read here that the head grader handles crossovers. I'm not sure if that's true, but if it is he'll remember the card if you send it in right away.

Also, you got it at a good price; I think you could sell it for a lot more as a BIN or maybe even at auction. It probably sold for less because it was being auctioned off by a big PSA submitter.

I have to agree with most of the other posters - I definitely would not crack it out - too much could happen. I would send it to PSA as a crossover and if it doesn't come back a 9 or better, the SGC slab will still bring real good money.

Great card - whatever slab it is in.

Given the price differential between the recorded sales - SGC $1300-$2200 and PSA $2900-$4000 you should definately try to cross it over before selling it. You have quite a few chances and can still make a decent profit. However, no way I would crack it first.

The fact that the last seller did not cross it over, knowing the difference in pricing is a reason for concern.

That is a pretty card! One thing that kind of scares me because most every SGC card I have seen the black gasket is snug.
That 1/32" gap down the right side kind of makes nervous. There doesn't have to be a reason its in an SGC holder or not
in a PSA holder. There is no way you get that in a 10 in the SGC holder.

Crack it...no guts, no glory. Think you have a much better shot of getting it in a 9 slab if you do that. Seeing the price difference for a 9 for SGC and PSA, I think its worth a shot. Then again I have no money for cards, so I try to make some with the crack and submit game. What's $100 in grading fees to send it in a few times to get that 9? Sharp corners, tiniest bit of white on bottom corner (if not just the scan), and centering that to mee doesn't look different from any other 9's online. Does it really look any worse than the 9's on ebay? See here for an example. Granted this is one of the worse ones I saw, but I think its clear that the risk isn't in the condition of the card (not over a few submissions, anyway), but rather any potential tampering/trimming that may have been done. I don't think it would pull a 10, but seeing a 9 sell in a Madec auction in December for over $5K, I don't think that's a big deal.

the gap on the right wouldn't bother me......but, huge concerns for what the lip on the OTHER side of that blasted gasket might be doing to the edge of that card! image
