I decided to RIP a 1990's Football box.

I went down to my basement this afternoon to iron a pair of pants for my daughter's open house at school. I looked over at my shelf of cards. Mind you I don't have much unopened material to begin with. I have 5 unopened boxes of stuff. (4) 80's wax and (1) 90's box. The 1994 Select football was calling my name. I wanted to see if I could pull the Marshall Faulk card that's 1 in every 360 packs. I decided to rip it.

I know this is junk wax, but I enjoyed opening. The pictures on the cards are pretty cool. I truly forgot what they looked like.

I hit the Faulk, I was pretty excited! I think it will grade a 9. I don't see a 10 happening.

My wife usually does it, but she was busy with work at the time. I had to man up and iron my own.

    Nice rip.

Busting cheap wax is quite fun.

I like that set. The Emmitt card is from the 1993 Thanksgiving day game between the Cowboys and the Dolphins. It snowed that day in Irving and it helped Leon Lett blow the game for the Cowboys. I almost puked up my turkey when he made that bonehead play image

    OH NO LEON

You don't just throw them back in the dryer with a damp washcloth? That got me through all of my college years and early bachelordom without EVER having to bother with an iron. I made sure that when I got married, my wife-to-be came with an iron.

But don't forget Matt, that was the last game they lost that year image

That Faulk was a heck of a hit 15 years ago. That is weird to say, because it does not seem like it has been 15 years.

  • Makes me want to buy some junk wax football. I've never opened up a pack of football cards, always bought baseball growing up. What are some of the best looking sets from the 90's ?
