That auction has been saved in my favorites for a very long time.

I wish I knew who bought it.......I would give them an offer they couldn't refuse!

Clemente has such a nice signature and to have it on a rookie card is amazing.

    Wow. Nice indeed.

    << <i>Went for a smooth 5 bills. >>

You mean fifty (50) bills, correct? But I suppose you could be referring to ...

Nice PSA 4 as well. That is a georgous card, I want that card in a PSA 7 holder so bad right now, I can't stand it.

image I wonder what is the "an offer they couldn't refuse" you have in mind?

Ah yes, fifty bills was what I was referring to ... and that's a nice looking ONE bill!

The card went for almost SIX THOUSAND PLUS the buyers premium, whatever that was. So the buyer probably paid closer to SEVEN GRAND for it!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

In light of this MJ BGS 10 going for 75K+, I am curious how much would the clemente auto rc fetch in the open market today (that transaction was 3 years ago)?

    70K or 80K or 100K?

    Please chime in image thanks!

At least with the Clemente, the buyer probably got 100% of the card . . . image

I am one of the most diehard signed rookie card guys you could meet, and I'd take that Jordan 100 times out of 100 times. I've watched 3 Roberto Clemente autographed rookies sell over the last few years for $5,000-$7,500 or so. It's a tough card, but the market supports the fact that the Jordan is worth far more. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the Clemente, but if I had the Jordan, I'd sell it and buy the Clemente, a Porsche 993 Twin Turbo Cabriolet, an autographed 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie and an autographed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie.

i take the jordan. even if it was in a psa 10 holder, i still take the jordan. 20 yrs from now, the men (and women) with money who dominate the hobby will have to google clemente to see what that guy was about... but they'll all know jordan was the greatest of a generation and that the bgs 10 card is one of the finest examples of his best card. just me..
