PSA/USPS question

Okay, I missed the mailman and got the little card in my mailbox, but as always it says I can come tomorrow and pick up my submission after 9:00 a.m. but I want it today. Is it possible to get the package by around 4:00 pm today or will I have to wait until tomorrow? My PO closes at 4:30.

I always go the same day right before my PO closes, and its there. Not saying yours will be (depends on your carrier), but its worth a shot.

I usually just drive around the neighborhood to find the guy. He'll heav your package in the truck until he gets back to the PO. No telling what time that may be. Usually pretty easy to find, most routes stay in the same area. Just drive up and down your local streets until you see the van/truck, and wait there until he comes back. Bring ID if he doesn't know you.
Edit: and maybe a nice cold drink will be appreciated too!
  • depends on when your mailperson finishes the route. In the past I've received the little orange slip and was able to pick it up later the same day (usually around 4 pm. If your mailperson is still on the appointed rounds then your package is also out on the rounds

I bet you think he's cute too?

If he leaves one more attempted delivery notice in my mailbox while I am at home and he was just too lazy to knock on the friggin door, he won't be cute for long.

Same problem here. Fills out the slips before he arrives and just delivers them. Then he gets upset when he gets caught and has to walk down the street to the truck to get the package. Just LAZY!
  • Think I will set up my window in the living room as a sniper's nest. So when he leaves me a note without knocking, I can snipe him with a BB gun while he as at the house across the street.

The method of going to the post office about 15 minutes before they close has always worked for me. Takes them a couple minutes longer to track the package down, but they eventually find it.

In the past I have gone home at lunch, just missed the mailman, and drove around looking for him. He always seems to have a surprised look on his face with I pull up next to him. image

Careful, he's a Gov. employee. Gotta make it look like an accident. BB shots usually aren't accidental.

One time when I went to the post office right before they closed, the person at the counter said my mail carrier hasn't come back from his route yet, and she let me camp out at the loading dock in the back. Talk about feeling like a stalker! Everyone back there was very nice, and so was my mail carrier when he arrived. They're a cool bunch.

Some carriers (me) leave a cell number also on the slip when it's something important or on saturdays so my customer can call me and meet me on the route.

I usually go to the PO about 30 minutes before they close. My carrier is usually back by then and I am able to pick up the package that day.

I am one of the lucky ones ... my carrier (Frank) is really a great guy. If there is a package that day, he will walk it to my front door, along with the other mail, and place it between the two doors (if it fits). If it does not fit he will leave it on the front step next to the door. He usually rings the bell as well, in case someone is home.
