Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Never knew he played ball. (Before my time) Cool card, thanks for sharing.
..."he and another player (Jesse Mitchell), were traded to the Birmingham Black Barons for a team bus. "Jesse and I may have the distinction of being the only players in history to be traded for a used motor vehicle"
It's been many years since I've heard this song but i can hear it perfect in my head. Kiss an Angel Good Morning
Hey, Bob...if you want to try to find a photo of Harold Jenkins in a baseball uniform and get another mock '54 Bowman, you could get a minor theme going.
Many people don't know the name Harold Jenkins, but I've read that he was about to sign with the Phillies in the early 1950s before Uncle Sam stepped in and drafted him. Once his service time was up and he returned to civilian life, he also began a singing career. For his stage name, he used the name of two small Southern towns: Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. As Conway Twitty, he racked up 40 #1 country songs as well as an early #1 pop hit ("It's Only Make Believe").
My wife is a big Country music lover and I've probably heard "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" 100 times and now I know who sings it and like the baseball players I collect he's a HOFer in his own right.
I'd be proud to send this great country/gospel artist a copy of my card if anybody has a mailing address. I'm not an autograph collector, so I don't even know where to find a good address.
Those who are interested in obtaining a copy of the card can PM me.

<< <i>You should send him a copy of the card. I bet he would be very touched. >>
I agree.
He sat in for a couple of innings last year in the Rangers' broadcast booth and talked about a lot of this same stuff. Very nice man.
