  If memory serves, the 1998 SP had 2 rookies per box, so the odds of pulling a Peyton are somewhere around 1 out of 15 boxes. 1996 Topps Chrome has 80 cards per box with the rookies not short printed, so the odds of pulling a Kobe are around 1 in 3 boxes.
  
  Therefore, it would cost you roughly $7500 on average to pull a Peyton and $1800 to pull a Kobe. Good luck.

  The Kobe is from a 220 card set, 20 packs per box and 4 cards per pack+ 80 cards in a box so roughly 1:3
  
  The manning- They never gave odds, but there are 2,000 total and you can see that many have been pulled and the wax is pretty scarce. Now the odds of pullin a 1998 Contenders Manning are a super long shot at best.

  My memory (and counting) is bad, but I believe the SP Manning is a either a 1 in 30 or 1 in 15 box pull. I only opened one box of the 98 SP and cant remember if ya got one or two rookies per box. I know you have slightly better odds than that if you are counting the Die Cut version as one of the cards too. Since you can get a good Manning for around $600 (maybe a little more or less), you would be better of buying the Manning.

  I actually would try the Contenders instead of SP Authentic just for the lottery aspect. The two cards mentioned are very easy to find in comparision to the Contenders card so if you went for broke I would go for it as you aren't likely to hit any of the cards in just 1 box anyway.

  There are also plenty of other good rookies in the 1996 Chrome. Other than Manning, there aren't too many pulls that will make your money back from the SPA.
