good? maybe. great? no. You can pick up a PSA 3 level Russell for $500 and have him sign for $100 or so. Add PSA's fees and shipping all around in and you could do the same thing for $750-$800 or so.

Thats true too...
Is that how much Russell charges for his auto? I guess it all depends on what the grade of the card is? I'm not good on grading at all, so I wouldn't know what the grade of that signed card is.
I wonder if Elgin Baylor charges for his auto? Didn't know Russell charged...
You could have had Baylor on anything you wanted for $60/each at a recent halloffamesports.com show at Frank and Son in City of Industry, CA. I didn't have any monry or I would have picked up signed 61 Fleer and 69 Topps cards.
Bill Russell once was at a B.C. High show in Massachusettes.
Believe it or not, the show charged $400.00 for his auto. It may have been his first signing ever in Massachusettes, and he was known to have never signed before this. I think the year was around 1990-1992.
Mark, you are just about right time frame and cost wise on the BC High show. Was set up there, they had all the Celts greats too. Heinsohn, Cousy, Jones'es etc.
Great show for some selling game worn basketball jerseys that had a lot of Celtics in stock! Pats self on back....

I'm only about 98% certain on this one... but Bill Russell won't sign trading cards and hasn't since the early/mid 90's... so that would be pretty tough to do... I always just assumed that was the main driver behind his high demand (and high price tag) for authentic autographed cards.

As I recall, Mike Navarro talked to Hollywood Collectibles (Russell's promoter) about this and they said he would sign a RC for the regular fee. Mike, can you confirm?
Bill Russell will sign about anything these days for money including trading cards. It costs around $175.00 to get him on a trading card. Here's mine that was done about 9 months ago if I remember correctly. Card was a PSA 5 O/C crackout
wow I wonder how many Russell auto rcs there are all together belong to the members here. I know there is at least one other Russell auto belong to zbob ...

<< <i>Hey EB22, are you considering purchasing the card?
I don't want to make a offer if one of you guys want the card.
Let me know. >>
Thank you very much for the thought! I'm not going for that, just knew a few people were looking for this and one is finally up. I'm not sure exactly who is going for it, but I heard several people chatting about it at some point. I know ZBob has one and not sure if he would go for a second one.
Go right ahead man, and good luck, hope you get a good deal on it... It is truely a great card, and maybe i'll go after one in the future, but for now, i'll just stick with trying to get a Baylor first.
