I only wish that PSA would tell us what was wrong with the card. Kind of like what Beckett does. It would make most of us a lot happier knowing exactly what was wrong with the card.

As consistently rough as that submission looks, the faults in most of the cards should be easy to spot. It's spotting them before you send them in that saves you money. You'll get better, everyone does after a few submissions.

Not a total smackdown, but one to learn from anyway. Ahhh, the joys of PSA...

I agree, I should be able to see what is wrong with most of the cards that I submitted. I bought these off a friend who has had them since he was a kid. He got them as Christmas gifts, what bothers me is that two of the cards are "miscut." Can that happen by the card company? I mean if he took them from the box to the card sleeve, I don't see how they could be miscut. That is why I was saying that PSA should give a quick explanation, even if it isn't on the slab...plus it could help the beginning collectors learn how to "pre-read" raw cards better.
  • PSA has a hard enough time getting cards graded in 45 business days. How long do you think it would take for them to grade cards if they had to explain why each card wasn't a 10?

Miscuts happen at the factory. Doesn't matter if they came straight out of a pack that way. Judging by the grades you received, I am guessing you simply do not know what to look for when looking for submittable cards.

Toughest thing that I've found is to admit that the card I'm submitting and hoping will will return a 10, will not.

If you are hoping, keep it. The 65/35 centering is just that, and won't magically change to 55/45 along the way. Or if I'm hoping PSA won't see a little touch on a corner, they will. Once I got much more objective and diligent with my critiquing, the grades got better.

Now, I no longer hope, I just resubmit image

Does it take 45 days at Beckett? I've never submitted to them, but I see that they actually put it on the slab. I'm just saying.
  • TOugh Sub!!! I just had mine completed in two business days. 50 cards. I think I got the grim reaper of all PSA graders...but you may have gotten his father. I cracked and resubmitted five cards that all got lower grades. I have been submitting for awhile and have to say that getting cards graded is VERY subjective.

Again, if you don't know what to look for, does it really matter who you submit to? If PSA says it is miscut, you are looking at a 1 (2 at best) from BGS which makes the card completely worthless.

Tough sub. Sorry to see it.

I've found that VERY few of the cards I've had since I was a kid were eligible for grades above 8.
  • maybe if you high res scan a few of the cards and show them here, along with the grades you thought. A few of the experts here can help.
