Has Anyone Ever Purchased A Redemption Card?

Has anyone ever purchased a redemption card off of eBay (or anywhere else) and then attempted to redeem the card? I see them on eBay all the time.

I never have and don't think I will. (I'd rather let someone else go through the trouble of redeeming the card.)

If you have, did everything go smoothly, e.g., did you receive the card you expected? Thanks.

Purchased a Jose Reyes redemption on eBay for $50+ and six months later I got a replacement letter along with a Don Sutton autograph card.

    NEVER AGAIN ....
  • I never have, but have read numerous horror stories. So many that when I did pull one, I immediately sold it for a cheap BIN. Not worth the headache. A bird in hand...

I purchased a total of 9 UD redemptions for Reggie Leach. Not one of them came back.

I'm not completely unhappy with the replacement cards they sent though... Anyone looking for a Dickey Moore?

I agree with anyone who says "NEVER AGAIN".

    Yep

Picked up 2004 Fleer Greats of the Game Gary Carter Auto redemption card for $5.00 --- sent it in --- stated that it would take 6 or 8 weeks --- well within those 6 or 8 weeks Fleer goes ka-put and I am out of luck ---- months go by and I get a letter saying that here are some replacement cards thanks for your patience.
Got 3 cards (1 auto of some nobody and 2 jersey cards will try to find them and post a scan)

Yes, I did, and it went very smoothly. It was for 1994 Signature Rookies Nolan Ryan redemption auto card. I don't know what it is like now, but back then you actually got what was advertised. Now from what I hear it's a crap shoot.

Good luck if you decide to do it...Donato

  • I see redemption cards has pre-constructions. You buy a pre-construction house for cheap, then you wait till it gets built and then sell for more. Not saying your interestead in selling it, but most the times you can get a card cheap for your own collection when you buy a redemption, instead of waiting for the actual card, because most times it sells for more after it was already redeemed.

I have purchased many redemption cards and have never had a problem, always got my cards, but sometimes waiting long, but it was worth the way. My one redemption probale came from Fleer, back in 2001, but Fleer is now UD so there should be no problem. I never received my card and they gave me crappy replacement, but like I said, it was Fleer from 2001, when it was the Fleer company, but now Fleer is Upper Deck.

    Hope that helped!
