Anyone used the "bing" 8% savings (cashback) lately? (yes, used to be live.com)

Just wondering if the bugs had been worked out yet. Still taking 60 daysto get funds/ or instant? I haven't tried it since it became Bing. Looking at a BIN and always looking to save some doe.

I've used bing.com a couple of times and gotten instant cash back both times...including a $30+ rebate.

  • I have used it several times.......from my experience - if 100% of the funds are from your PP account the cashback is instant - if you have to draw ANY amount from your CC or bank account, it takes 60 days

That's not what I experienced. I bought a card last week with funds that were already in my paypal account, and it says that it'll be 60 days.

I pay for 95% of eBay purchases with credit card to insure I'm double protected (plus I earn points), and still received the instant cash back.

I guess 8% is better than nothing ... HOWEVER, the higher prices on MOST BINs may negate the benefit.

I always used credit card for all funds, and sometimes I get the instant rebate, other times it's the 60 day variety. Seems to be random, but maybe there is some determining factor...but it's definitely not how the payment is funded.

I'd venture to say that it's random then.

I've used it a bunch. Sometimes I get instant cash back, sometimes I don't.

I've used it seven times so far this year...

My very first attempt took 60 days & all my uses since that first time have been instant credit back to my paypal account
  • I didn't know there was a limit and maxed on the times you can use it. I need to see if it's per year or what. I miss it. 8% helps. Wish I didn't 'waste' it on $5 transactions though...

wow - i can't believe all the positive experiences everyone has had - my experiences have been AWFUL - see my prior post about this. I decided to give it another shot after my initial disaster experience...AND THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED. It wound up taking me about 90 days to collect and a ton of continuous follow up with Bing via email and paypal via phone. I WILL NEVER use it again...

Can you use it on ebay to buy cards?
  • Tedw9Tedw9 Posts: 1,424 ✭✭
Yes, you can use it on Ebay to buy cards. And if you join Big Crumbs and use Ebay bucks all together with Bing, you can actually save some money.

I have never gotten the instant money back, I've always had to wait 60 days. But I've never had a problem with getting my money back.

For BIN eBay transaction... you are allowed 20 transactions per calendar year.
  • I've used Bing cashback several times now. Good results. My opinion is even if it doesn't work out or takes you an email or two to get it straightened out, it's better than no chance at 8% off ...

  • how does one use this "bing" discount? Any details would be appreciated.
  • onebamafanonebamafan Posts: 1,318 ✭✭
You should be able to go to bing.com and open a cashback account (use to be live.com). It will be linked to your paypal account.........Type in wii (for example) in the search box, then click on the link showing ebay.....you will then be linked to ebay and you should see a banner at the top of the page showing your 8% cashback offer. If you do not, then that item isn't eligible for the cashback. You must use BIN and Paypal to get your discount........some times it is instant in your paypal account, sometimes it takes 60 days to be credited. After you buy an eligible item, the screen steps you thru the rest of the process.
  • Thanks. Now someone said you can combine that "bing" discount with big crumbs too? Again, any tips would be appreciated.

Yes, you can combine Bing with Big Crumbs. This is how I do it...

I log into Bing and do the search thing, usually Wii and when the Ebay link comes up, I click on it.

Once it opens the Ebay window, you will see the discount at top like we always do. I am assuming you have used the Microsoft discount before.

Once that is there, Microsoft has place a timed cookie on your computer that will expire in something like 30 minutes.

I find the item I want to purchase and place it on my Watch List.

I then close that window and go to Big Crumbs where I am already logged in. I then click the Ebay link from the Big Crumbs main page.

A new window opens to Ebay, you should see the Microsoft discount banner still at top. Now make sure you DO NOT click on any other windows! The window you just opened has a Big Crumbs cookie attached to it also. Once that window
is open, do not navigate away from the Ebay page or the Big Crumbs cookie will be no good and you will have to do it again.

Click on your Watch List link, go to your watch list, click on the item you want to buy and buy it. I always pay right then too, but that is just me. It should show the Bing discount right before you agree to BIN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a PM.
