Why did this sell for so much?

Is there something special about this? I thought the seller was doing this as a joke?
ebay 2009 A&G
From the auction listing:
How this was obtained:
Yes. A real electron (or electrons) created the signature with the assistance of a live human and the event was witnessed by the authenticator. A writing utensil (pen) was chosen which was held (or attached by electrons) by the human's hand. The pen then touched the surface of the card and moved in various formations. The manufactured ink from the pen was dispensed, distributed and (with the force of electrons) attached itself to form the markings. Real electrons are still present on the markings which aid in attaching the ink to the trading card.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

My Registry Sets
I'll admit, I put in the 1st bid.
The guy who pulled Wongs Wood 1/1 wanted $350. A card shop owner worked a deal and got it for him as Wong only had $125. And plus, $350 was ridiculous.

That is hysterical. Then again, if Topps made a card of me and put it in a major set like A&G, I'd trade half of my collection if necessary to get all of my 1/1's. "Mike Adams-World Champion TV Watcher". Although, I do think it was very odd of Topps to give the Code champion their own card. I think it diminishes the set just a tad and I hope they don't continue that trend.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.

You can get it done cheaper than that.....
The Electron thing was a good bit. If someone's willing to pay for it I say go for it... Half of the Allen & Ginter set is a bit anyway. Several people here spend several thousand a year buying into that bit. I see no problem with the collector trying to recoup some cost.
What I'm selling
Building Sets, Collecting Texas Rangers, and Texas Tech Red Raiders
Ya gotta give the guy some marketing credit!!!! $28 bucks for a worthless piece of cardboard!!

Jason Wong should have only signed a few cards and refused to sign TTM. All the A&G auto set seekers would bid them up like crazy.
Also, you said Wong's wood.
16th post down a guy mentions his Electron auto a day before the auction started. He never responded to me if it was his or someone stole his idea.
Topps Message Board
The electron card should have included a sig cut of the person who discovered it, J. J. Thomson. That would have been cool rather than stupid.
