I hope this works as well! It would be nice if we could afford to get Halliday as well. I'd love to see a starting rotation that included Carpenter, Wainwright, and Halliday. The rest of the NL might just give up.

but if we win the world series then it "might" be worth it? Might be? It definitely would be. I think this is a great move the Cards. And Larussa isn't going anywhere even if they don't make the playoffs this year. He's a proven winner who calls the shots.

This was yet another Billy Beane (the "wonderboy") deal gone bad.
Oakland has huge, huge foul territory and the ball does not carry exceptionally well at night. Though the reconstruction of the stadium for the Raiders changed things a bit, it's still a "pitchers" park and moving away from there will only help Holliday's fantasy numbers.
During the A's championship run of 1972-74 only one player hit over .300 but their pitching was the best in baseball. If you can name the player that hit over .300 you are a TRUE A's fan (no fair using the Internet).
