R.I.P Corporal Nicholas George Xiarhos

It was reported today that a local Marine has died in Afghanastan.

Nick was the son of a local police Lt who I have met a few times and is a good solid man and police officer.

I will be running a few Ebay auctions with the proceeds being donated to a scholarship fund in Nick's name.

I hadn't rec'd any specifics since lowering the flag yesterday. Thanks for the link.

I met Nick long ago when he was about 6yo. He and the rest of the Xiarhos kids were a bundle of energy and they kept their mom and dad hopping 24/7. From all accounts he was a highly regarded Marine. We're all in disbelief.

It's a crazy world and we're fortunate to have devoted protectors such as these folks representing us.

My eldest did 2 tours of Afghanistan as a Marine
my youngest did a 13 1/2 month stretch in Iraq
