question about 1970 tallboy Topps Basketball EDIT: answered, thanks

So, I have quite a few of these. Lots of them have really nice corners and sides as well as good color and gloss (PSA 7 to 8 quality probably). The thing is that many have several extremely fine scratches that look like they came from looking through the pack one by one and the card on the top rubbing the second on the stack. All of the scratches are horizontal. The scratches are not visible from straight on--only when you tilt the card and reflect the light just right.

Anybody with experience on these that would hazard a guess as to how they would grade out? I think this is why a Chamberlain I had that I thought a 7 came back a 5.5. I don't think I could capture this on a pic to post.

The clock is ticking on the July special and I am trying to decide if they are worth sending in for grading.

Thanks for looking.

go over every one you plan to send in with a loupe so you can see what they see under high magnification.....if something seems strange or odd about the card, chances are they will notice it too.....if you have some really nice stars or cards with low populations, you might do ok, but i would limit the numbers on 1970-71 unless you will be happy with keeping a lot of the PSA 7's and 8's or selling them dirt cheap.
  • Thanks for the answer. I got a PM from another member that said basically the same.
