More Fun with eBay feedback...

I got a neutral this week, for not leaving a buyer feedback in the month since his card arrived.
I normally leave feedback on Sundays, but this guy had been emailing once a week for about a month, so I was ignoring his pestering, and out of my own hubris, not leaving him feedback intentionally. Feedback pestering is one of my pet peeves.
I just wonder what his thought process was?
Anyone else had something happen like this?
It's not a big deal, and it doesn't affect my 100%, but it just struck me as strange.

It is always good to understand what went wrong in a "bad" transaction.
EBAY's auto-feedback feature leaves FB upon payment and spares sellers
from having to deal with psychos on the issue.

Hubris (/hjuːbrɪs/) (ancient Greek ὕβρις
Hubris, though not specifically defined, was a legal term and was considered a crime in classical Athens. It was also considered the greatest sin of the ancient Greek world. That was so because it was not only proof of excessive pride, but also resulted in violent acts by or to those involved. The category of acts constituting hubris for the ancient Greeks apparently broadened from the original specific reference to mutilation of a corpse, or a humiliation of a defeated foe, or irreverent "outrageous treatment" in general.
The meaning was eventually further generalized in its modern English usage to apply to any outrageous act or exhibition of pride or disregard for basic moral laws. Such an act may be referred to as an "act of hubris", or the person committing the act may be said to be hubristic. Ate|Atë, ancient Greek for "ruin, folly, delusion," is the action performed by the hero, usually because of his/her hubris, or great pride, that leads to his/her death or downfall.

Storm, I had no idea that there was even an automatic feedback thingy. Sweet.
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.
expect you to live in the post office lobby so you can attempt to get them their merch 5 minutes after they pay.....................Oh and they expect
free shipping . All this and they still wont be happy.
Always looking for Chipper Jones cards.
Im a very focused collector of cards from 1909 - 2012...LOL
As a seller, I leave feedback the day I receive payment and prepare the item to ship. As a seller, I always leave feedback first.
As a buyer, if the seller has left feedback for me by the time I get my item, I reciprocate... if they have not left feedback, again, I reciprocate in kind. As a buyer, I never leave feedback first.
I believe those sellers who used feedback as a weapon have themselves to blame for eBay taking the tool away from sellers. eBay's reaction was rash and poorly thought out, but the policy is what it is and it is best to adapt your selling practices accordingly or try to find a new venue.
Some buyers take their feedback very seriously and aren't afraid to trash a seller's to make that point unfortunately.

Yup.
Some EBAY buyers are mentally deranged.
Some buyers on ALL venues are mentally deranged.
On some venues, the mentally deranged buyers cannot destroy honest sellers.
(And, there is NO SUCH THING as a "PayPal decided SNAD-claim.")

The fact that FB received by EBAY buyers is now TOTALLY meaningless,
proves, to my satisfaction, that any buyer who "takes their feedback
very seriously" is a dingbat maroooooooon.
here is your feedback.

For instance...if I always ship same day or next business day after receipt of payment, then I deserve 5 stars for shipping time. Not the 4.9 that I for some reason have...especially when everything else is 5.0.

I'm the same way. My shippng stars are 4.9 (my lowest), and I almost always ship out next business day.

It is only a minor pet peeve of mine--I don't pester anyone or let it bother me too much--but I also don't give them any feedback either if they don't for me. I just thought the percentage of feedback left for me seems much lower than it was in years past.
<< <i>I just thought the percentage of feedback left for me seems much lower than it was in years past. >>
It is. There is little to no incentive for sellers to leave feedback because they can only leave positive comments...other than good customer service. I don't mean to get PC on us, but leaving buyer feedback is just that, good customer service...in accordance with convention anyway. The desire was slightly stronger when honest feedback could be left for buyers, but now, buyer feedback is just that, convention and holds nearly no meaning from a selling perspective.
I do challenge sellers to remember: feedback percentages are only accurate for the 12 month period prior, so buyers do in fact rely upon feedback to show an active account in good standing.
A neutral will kill this guy, yet his CS just plain socks. I don't expect a voluntary replacement, but will give him another chance. These are now installed and it would be a royal pain to remove both, pack n ship and reinstall original boards. If not, I'll get a tube of automotive glue, give a neutral and hope for the glue holds.
You can't fix stupid.
<< <i>how did the Neutral read?....I left a Neutral for a seller today who charged $3.25 for postage for a 8x10 picture and I rec'd it with $1.22 postage applied and a "Postage Due" bill from the P.O. for another 34 cents.... >>
Before you left the neutral feedback I hope you contacted the seller first. "Postage due" is not always the seller's fault - sometimes the package is metered incorrectly by the P.O. Did you give the seller the opportunity to make it right before you left the feedback?
Small price to pay to do biz - if anyone wants to visit my office, I'll be glad to show them all the expenses connected with grossing every buck I take in and all the crap I have to deal with.

If you do not highlight a star it does not give a 0.
It simply gives nothing.
He may have blamed you because he thought you gave him a lower star.
After 12 months some ratings drop off.
