  • Nice glove, nice auto, but nice try on the fingerprint, I know its your print! haha, just kidding, neat looking card. Too bad PSA dosen't authenticate fingerprints, or else this card would be that much better. Congrats on such a sweet pull!

LOL that's cool if you look at it that way. I pulled a Don Larsen that was similar and was disappointed that it was smudged. Now I like it image

You know what I think, the players are probably sitting there thinking about their playing days and touching the game used pieces, so thats how some autos might get smudged. Lord only knows what goes thru their minds has they sit there signing these cards with pieces of their game used gear??? Probably thinking of the good old days, so thats damn cool if you ask me!
  • You know what? I think a new card idea was born in this thread! image

They should make them dip their finger in ink and put a fingerprint on the card, along with an auto, game used and serial number too while their at it.

I got a dual auto of Branca and Thomson in 2001 Topps that was smudged by one of them. I hated it and sold it. I think it was the first auto'd card I had ever pulled and I really want it back someday
  • Yes the fingerprint is so clear and you can see the way he was holding the card when he was autographing it,"so cool" Makes me wonder how many other cards there might be out there ligit like this.

Tell me about it... I had a Yogi Berra Topps 52 reprint auto that I really want back too. It wasen't a dual or smudged, but I loved that card image Sold it to get something else a few years back, but wish I would have kept it. The odds of pulling it was like 1 in 10,000 or something stupid like that, haha. Yeah man, in order for a card to be smudged like that I think it gotta be from one of the players, very rare that anybody else would do it but them.

I have a feeling that silver ink is very smudgy and there might be quite a few. Mine was worse than it is now when it came out of the pack. there was a bunch of silver dust near the end of Larsen that I was able to wipe away pretty easywith a Q-tip. I got far away from it after that cause I was gonna try to clean up the whole thing but thought better. Probably would have erased the whole thing or made it worse.

I know this might sound crazy but i thought it would be cool to have like a limited time card that was thick like a GU but has a lil Thin LCD screen in it that ran off a solor panel in the back of the card like a "culcalter" & you could watch the player like catching the ball or maybe like watch a small part of the game or somthing kinda like that. But do a small amount limited time.

ya i am glad i got it on tape while wearing gloves myself, i got it in a super hard thick case right away to be safe.
  • Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but I'm pretty sure that the leather is not game used.

    Interesting piece though.

Yup that's where mine sits, up on a shelf now. It's way too close to my Red Sox stuff though

  • eb22, i believe something similar to what you're proposing has been tried and failed, albeit not exclusively with cards.

a while back, some company filed a patent to form a new sort of sports memorabilia, where it would be accompanied by a fingerprint of the player. In theory, it would deter forgeries and increase the value of the item, but it took off like a lead balloon.

It seemed to be a good idea though, and i feel on some level it still may be. I was reading the uspto paper work on it a few weeks ago, and it seemed like something someone should look into again.

edit. here is the link to the uspto paperwork of the idea i was describing link

It's been done at least once with 2000 Fleer Showcase's Touch Football insert. The top rookies covered their hands in silver paint and placed them on footballs to be cut up and included in cards. They were not autographed and don't command much on the market these days with the glut of "event" used cards out there.

    Snorto~

Oh cool I didn't read about that. You knows, maybe Topps or UD will make these for basketball like 10 years from now haha, their lease expires this year and Panini will take over in 2010 and I doubt they would do such a thing. Of course they can do it for baseball, football, hockey and so on, but not basketball image Oh well, i'm very patient and could way another 10 years no big deal, and thats if Topps or UD ever gets the NBA licence again, but who knows.

It isn't from a game used glove, but still a nice card!
